If I hear one more time on TV on how Sidney Crosby has "led" the Penguins to the SCF, I might explode. For just once, I really want to hear credit given to guys who deserve it like Marc-Andre Fleury, Brooks Orpik and Ryan Whitney.

Well Crosby is the captain and captains tend to get credit for leading the team.

But is he a credible captain? It's just odd how the NHL wants to market Crosby and the Penguins slap the 'C' right onto the sweater of that cry baby. You have to wonder how much pressure the Penguins organization was under for making this move. On the ice, he doesn't have captain qualities in my book.

Thats one of the biggest reasons I dislike Crosby. Seeing him yap at officials the way he does is a pretty big turn off to me. I'd love to see Ovechkin as the new messiah of hockey, he's probably the most athletic, gifted, and exciting player I've ever seen, and on top of that he also seems like a great team mate and a leader. Too bad he's not American/Canadian, or he would be head and shoulders above Crosby in terms of marketability IMO.

Really, and how do you know that? Are you in the locker room, seeing what happens behind the scenes? Would you be saying this if Crosby was on your favourite team?

I bolded the part you seem to neglect to read before you responded.

As for your questions, I'm not in the locker room, but then again, I said this from the view from the stands. I've been a captain of some teams and there's an certain behavior being a good captain and from my eyes, Crosby hasn't shown much to deserve that 'C'. If he was on my team, I would be saying the same. I would want someone with the experience and drive to lead my team. Now, I'm not saying that Crosby isn't motivated, but I watched a few games this season and it looked like he gave up a few times, especially on plays that he could of easily made.

So let respond to the bolded part, if I may .... are YOU there on the ice with Crosby? Do you know what he says to his teammates? the coaches? the refs? How about on the bench? Do you know how he communicates? All you can do is SEE from a hundred feet what what happens.

I saw, I came, I left.

I'm starting to really want Detroit to win this as quickly as possible just so Crosby will get to shave that much sooner. That playoff "beard" is some seriously bad news. He looks like trailer trash from My Name is Earl.

1.) He cries to the referees almost every time he gets a blatant penalty called on him. You don't need to be on the ice to know what he's saying. You can read his lips and watch his mannerisms.

2.) I think it was either the ECF or the SCF, but the puck was taken from him by a member of the opposite team and he slashed them.

Those are two big no-no's not only for a regular player, but a captain even more. You're trying to make it as a captain is someone who just motivates his teammates. With that attitude, I doubt you've ever been a captain of any kind, but it's more than just that. It's a big part of it, but an even bigger part is to set an example on the ice and in my eyes, Crosby hasn't done that well.

Yup. That's absolutely right. I AM the expert on leading professional teams to the promise land.

Are you kidding? All I'm saying is that there's certain things a players should and shouldn't do as a captain, and Crosby seems to be doing a lot of what he shouldn't be doing. That's all. Yes, I think I like to know how to be a successful captain and if I didn't, then I don't know how I got the honor multiple times, but it doesn't take an expert on how to lead a team.

Ugh. Sometimes all this Corsby hatred almost makes me wish he wasnt on the team. Its almost as annoying as Crosby himself. Yeah, I'll admit it.

He has insane talent, but I also hate how his yapping to the refs causes hatred towards him, and, alot of the time, towards the whole Pens team.

Somewhat ironically, Ive always found the "Crosby Sucks" chants the most annoying. Yeah, you hate Crosby. So do the fans of all the other 29 teams that arent the Penguins. But, youre not playing just Sidney Crosby, youre playing the Pittsburgh Penguins. The team. There are 19 other guys on the team that your team is facing.

I acutally don't have much of a problem with Crosby "yapping" to the refs. Besides, it's the captain's responsibility to talk to the refs. Could he talk to them a different way? Probably, but I don't know what he's saying, not just what I see on tv, but during the commercial breaks where we, as viewers, don't know what's going on.

Can you throw a 100-mph fastball too, Brass?

I was once a pitcher on my little league team. I would like to think I can throw a 100-mph fastball.

I saw, I came, I left.

Brass plays hockey. That qualifies him to be able to make statements that you, and everyone else here on the boards, should never question.

Go ahead, Brass. You're doing great, honey.

Gretzky yapped when he was 20, Hawerchuk yapped when he was 20. Crosby doing it isn't anything new, nor is it a sign of anything bad. He's in good company

Well as for your points you couldn't get a bigger cry-baby and cheap-shot artist captain than Mark Messier. I still remember the 1997 Devils-Rangers series where Messier took out Doug Gilmour with a cross-check to the face. Not only that both him and Gretzky whined to the officials all series about reviewing toes in the crease after the league has sent out a note saying that teams couldn't request video reviews.

The :censored: Crosby does pales in comparison to those two.

As for Crosby's on ice leadership in a game the Penguins had to win Crosby stepped up and scored 2 goals. Your top playing stepping up in a must win game doing what needs to be done to win is pretty good leadership.

No, I can't throw a 100 mph fastball. I suck at baseball and all I can do is steal bases.

And Lee, listen, I'm not saying I play hockey and I "qualify" to make statements that you should never question. Please point out where I said that, because I can't. I'm terribly sorry for knowing what I'm talking about. I like to believe that I'm a good player who knows a thing or two about the game. I said something that I felt strongly about and I DEFENDED my position. If defending my position means I'm saying something you "should never question", then what's the point of the debating? What's the point of posting?

Sorry for pissing you off by defending my position and forcing you to make another unfunny post.

That's all well and good, but I am just curious on why you said what you said? I like to think I know a lot of about the game and I'm a talented player at it (that's another story), but I never said that anybody's opinion doesn't matter. I'm proud of my accomplishments, but it doesn't make me any better of an individual than any of you guys. You immediately jumped to a conclusion and I think that was unfair to me.
