Just caught on Sportscenter that the Journal News is reporting that Joe Torre will be named Dodgers manager. After they fire Grady Little of course. This is also being reported on ESPN and ESPN News.

So Joe Torre's gotten Grady Little fired twice. Nice.

Noooooo.

As a Red Sox fan I must root against the Yankees including Joe Torre.

Now... as a Giants fan I must root against the Dogs... including again Joe Torre?

I disagree...of course we need to root against the Yankees, but Joe Torre is another story altogether. I happen to like and respect the man a great deal -- I wish him well wherever he ends up.

I heard it on the radio this morning as I was leaving for work.

Joe Torre to manage the Los Angeles Dodgers after 12 years with the New York Yankees. Wow, that is something.

When the Yankees offered Torre an one year deal for $2.5 million (half of what he earned in 2007), Torre told the Yankees what they could do with that offer.

Good going, Joe.

This would be cooler if the Dodgers were still in Brooklyn... ^_^

That being said, if this means that Mariano Rivera, Posada, and maybe even A-Rod move over to the NATIONAL LEAGUE, then awwwww :censored:, here comes the pain for the rest of the league.

I'm glad Joe Torre is getting the opportunity to manage again, but I'm frankly a little perturbed by the timing of this story. Leaking it last night, knowing it was going to be the hot topic today, the day of the Red Sox victory parade, which is being covered live on ESPN 360 by the way. Bush league.

What's this about the Jets moving to Phoenix?

Apples and oranges. Last night was also the start of the free agency announcements. Isn't that also competing with the parade?

It's one thing to announce news during the World Series :coughborasarodcough: But the parade is really only news for the victorious team. Once the World Series is over, the offseason begins, and you can't really say that offseason news is overshadowing a victory parade.

In another thread I said that Torre is one of two only Yankees I respect, admire and like. The other is Lou Gehrig.

As a Red Sox fan I must root against the Yankees including Joe Torre. That is for the rivalry. But it doesn't mean that I hate Torre or I'm wishing the worst to him. No señor!

More news: Report: Dodgers to fire manager Little, hire Torre

Hey, if Torre finally goes to LA... what would do the Giants to neutralize this impact? Bring A-Rod?

I was kidding, making light of the uproar over the timing of the A-Rod opting out announcement.

*Dies of Happiness*

This is pretty cool. I hadn't heard anything about this until today, and it kinda caught me by surprise. But now that is appears this is gonna happen, it feels like everything just worked out. If Torre wasn't available, Grady I assume would have stayed. They just said the Dodgers apparently parted ways with Grady who was already sort of skepticle about next season. I feel like it'll be a great fit.
