So two teams already have automatic bids. Cornell won the Ivy League title and Winthrop won the Big South Tournement this morning. There are some more automatic bids to be handed out tonight. And most mid-majors will have started their tournements by today and the big conferences will be starting up in a couple days. So discuss anything you want about college basketball here.

Island Style got that right. Jacksonville faces Belmont for the A-Sun Title tonight on, of all places, the home court of Belmont's rival (Lipscomb).

Also tonight is the Ohio Valley championship game between conference regular season champ Austin Peay and upset minded Tennessee State. As if it wasn't bad enough the Govs dealt with a team that had a high scoring duo last night in UT-Martin, they have to do that again with the Tigers.

Also of note today in tourny action:

-Maryland-Baltimore Country continues it's miracle season with a win over Stony Brook in the America East Quarterfinals. Next up is traditional America East power Vermont.

-The Big Sky tourny begins with two first round games at Weber State and Idaho State before the scene shifts to Portland for the final three games.

-VCU held off an upset minded Towson team to advance in the CAA tourny. Next up is another upset minded team in William and Mary.

-Drake continues it's great season with a win over rival Creighton. One more win and they'll be the MVC regular season and tourny champs and possibly turn the league into a one bid league.

-Davidson, who ran away with the conference title in the SoCon, made mincemeat out of Wofford in the Quarterfinals. Can you say 'cakewalk'?

-Also underway tonight is the Summit League (formerly the Mid-Continent Conference) tourny in Tulsa with the top two teams, Oral Roberts and IUPUI, playing in their opening round games.

-Last, but not least, is the West Coast Conference tourny in San Diego, where the hometown Toreros host Pepperdine tonight with a shot at St. Mary's going to the winner. Keep an eye on San Diego because if either Gonzaga or St. Mary's choke, the WCC may become a three bid league.

Drake is proving that they are a very good team, but that MVC title won't come easy. Southern Illinois is playing in the other semi-final tonight, and the Salukis have showed over the years that they are the team to beat in the MVC Tournement. That should be a good game if Southern beats Northern Iowa tonight.

BZZZT! The Salukis lost to UNI last night in the Quarterfinals, Billy. The other semifinal has Illinois State and UNI going at it.

Sorry for the mistake, I saw Illinois in the semis and just assumed that it was Southern.

Bad assumption to make.

If ISU makes the title game, and doesn't get completely pantsed by Drake, I could see them getting an at large-honestly they should be in already; they have season sweeps over Southern Illinois and Creighton (not exactly the easiest thing in the world to pull off) and pulled a split off against a very schizo Bradley team this year. Unfortunately their non-Conference resume is a tad weak.

(Bradley could beat anyone on a given night and they could lose on a given night-unfortunately IMO they've schizoed themselves out of a postseason bid-there's a chance for the CBI, but that's it. Maybe the NIT and CBI will understand the team blows without Ruffin-which is what happened during the middle of the season.)

Add another school to the party as Austin Peay wins the Ohio Valley tourny... And they didn't just win, they slapped Tennesee State around like a pimp slapping his hoe.

Oh, and speaking of Illinois State. The Redbirds knock off upset minded UNI to reach the title game. If the Redbirds win, the MVC gets two bids and someone's bubble WILL not just burst, but probably end up raped and left in some sort of dark alley.

I maintain that, barring a whole lot of weird :censored: happening in other tournaments, Illinois State punched their ticket today. I think the only real problem they have is the lack of "name recognition" (ie if Southern Illinois or Creighton had the Redbirds' profile, this wouldn't be in doubt.)

Better be safe than sorry, so as a Valley fan, GO REDBIR.........*Bradley fandom switch kicks in* *enters brainlock*

Ummm....Go losers down the road in the Twin Cities that God forgot.

Arizona State won today which brought them to 19-11, bubble team that could squeak in. Hey the season that the Devils had this year is so much better than last year. I'll be satisfied one way or another.

You can pretty much add Belmont to the list after the kick Jacksonville's butt all over the court. The best part of the game were the shots of Vince Gill... Yeah, it wasn't even close.

As for Illinois State: I don't doubt what you say, rams, but some people feel that the Redbirds don't have a big win (unless you count the season sweeps of both SIU and Creighton) and have some ugly losses (Bubble teams shouldn't lose to bottom feeders like Indiana State).

RPI is not an issue here, it's just the overall profile.

I feel that second in the Conference, and wins in Omaha and Carbondale, tend to speak for themselves. Honestly, I have trouble believing that their profile is convincingly worse than the 5th or 6th place team in the SEC, Big Ten, or Big XII.

Niagara and Canisius both lost in the MAAC quarterfinals today, so most likley no WNY team in the NCAA's.

'Cuse may get a bid. They will probably need 2 wins in the Big East Tourney to get in. Hopefully they dont get snubbed again

And Cornell got in, good for them.

Well...Illinois State is probably solidly back on the bubble. (Although there's not much you can do when your opponent is raining death from NBA distance behind the arc.)

Won again today breaking Vermont's streak of 5 straight appearances in the championship game. Next week we get to play the championship game at home. It's the first championship game in school history with a chance to go to the tournament also for the first time in school history!

Yep. UMBC won today in the America East semis and now gets to host Hartford in the championship game on Saturday.

Now, some other news from the tournies:

-The upset bug is prevalent right now as the CAA's top seed, VCU, falls victim to fifth seed William and Mary while the Northeast's top seed, Robert Morris, got smoked by Mount St. Mary's.

-Despite the crazy 1st Round the Patriot League had on Tuesday night, today seemed very normal as American and Colgate won their games. This matchup will be at American and, much like UMBC, they're gunning for their first ever tourny appearance.

These are my rankings, as of March 10. I've been doing this the past couple of weeks now just to kind of see how my picks match up with the polls, and then I go to 65 to see who I'd have in the tournament compared to Joe Lunardi. I rank the top 65 teams in the NCAA and then factor in Conference Winners/Projected Winners. In the ranking list Conference Winners/Projected Winners are bolded, teams that would be bumped by Small Conference/Unexpected winners are italicized.
