Markus Naslund is now a Ranger.

TSN.ca

Probably time for Naslund to move on, but the Canucks are going to miss even his declining production very, very, badly. If Sundin had signed in Vancouver, Naslund would probably have followed.

Rob Blake is a Shark.

Woah. Now I know he's getting up there in age, but his influence will in the very least be a good pick-me-up for the Sharks D.

And BTW, I think we as logo/jersey freaks all NEED to check this out.

Buc, that video is awesome! The NHL Store is a pretty cool place, not that big, but definitely a place to see for any hockey fan who happens to be in NYC.

Naslund...it's going to be tough to see him in a new uniform next year, and I hope he has a great year. It was time for him to move on, the defensive system isn't right for him, and in the Eastern conference will be good for him.

The defensive system was necessary because Vigneault knew that he didn't have the tools to run 'n gun like the Canucks were able to do in the past.

That being said, we still need an entire line's worth of forwards; Something tells me that Darcy Hordichuk and Kyle Wellwood aren't the solutions to our offensive woes.

Unless of course Jaffray, Shannon and Raymond can continue their rapid development.

Well with Naslund in NY and the Penguins signing a few players I think we could make a serious run at Jagr, who would dominate with the Sedins. That being said it will probably not happen and the Gillis hiring is looking stupider and stupider. The guy cant sign any one and no one will trade with him. While I do not like firing of Nonis, you need to replace him with a experienced guy, who in a critical off season for this team can make a impact. And while I do blame Gillis for the lack of signings, the man I blame most is Francisco Aquilini. The guy needs to butt the :censored: out. The only real impact guys out there are RFA's and thats a terrible rout to go for improving, but if you have to you have to.

Nothing like giving the guy 3 days to get some real work done before proclaiming him an utter failure. Let's give him at least a year to be on the job before we get all 'argh muck glar' on his ass, mmkay?

That being said, I believe the Canucks' offer for Sundin is still the best one out there. He can still be an impact player, and if he does sign in Vancouver, there's the first line, signed sealed and delivered. The best part is, he's here for the same money we were paying Naslund and Brendan Morrison.

I'm not completely worried about FA signings, since we do have some kids that are just about ready to make the jump. Grabner, Raymond, Jaffray, Shannon; these guys are either capable or damn-near capable of playing and producing at an NHL level. I think this could be the breakout year for Grabner and Raymond, and if it is, there's 2/3 of the second line.

Of course, I also wouldn't complain about 2 years $20 M to Jagr, either, but who's to say? I think Sundin is waiting to see who signs where, and who has money left over for him, but Jagr would be a more than suitable consolation, if he's willing to leave the east coast for the league's worst travel schedule.

Like I said I blame Aquilini, he hired a guy who nobody wants to deal with. But Gillis also said he was gonna make a impact in the free agency, and he hasn't done that. And yes 3 days is a very short amount of time to judge someone, but its 3 days of free agency, which is the most important time of the year as a gm.

I think its still a little early to make the call that no one will deal with Gillis. The Canucks simply don't have much that A)Other teams would want and B) the Canucks would want to trade. Bieksa and Edler aside, pretty much the whole D-corp has no-trade clauses, the Canucks forward situation is too dire to make trading the Sedins worthwhile, and if you trade Luongo, you're pretty much tanking the next couple of seasons, which isn't too appetizing. You could trade Kesler, but are we really going to get offensive help for him? I'm not sure.

Trading Edler would leave us with no high end defense prospects in light of the Bourdon tragedy, but I think trading him or Bieksa is going to be what it takes.

Other than that, its going to have to be signing the likes of a Demitra or Jason Williams I guess.

Marc Denis has also signed with Montreal.

Good luck with that one, the Lightning learned well from that one.

With Price being #1 and Halak as a backup, Denis will be in Hamilton. But he's a possible 2nd if Halak is traded (which can happen eventually).

Jagr signs with Omsk

my dream come true! Happy 4th of July! :D

Jagr's gonna make $35 million over two years, so it was a total cash grab.

In the process of leaving the NHL, he turned down $7M offers from the Pens and Oilers. Can't say I'm really gonna miss the guy.

Rob Blake's influence is all he'll bring to the Sharks. As a Kings fan I can tell you that there are little sparks of the dominant defenseman, but really he'll spend more time in the press box in a suit than he will on the ice in uniform. Just get use to 20-30 games on the injured list. He is what he is, a talented broken down defenseman. When healthy, he's at best a #3 defenseman, but really he's a #7 or 8 because of his injuries and those never go away. I love Blakey and hate he's going to the Sharks, but I'm being honest in saying it no loss on the ice and he saw the writing on the wall that there was no room for him with all the young defensemen the Kings are bringing in. He really needs to step aside, because he's broken down. I hope you get more than 40 games out of him, but I just don't know if his body will hold up. He's a class act, but just at the end of the line physically.

Craig Rivet and a 7th rounder to Buffalo for 2009 and 2010 2nd rounders.

Steve Bernier to Vancouver for 2009 3rd rounder and 2010 2nd rounder.

Also, rumour has it Gillis is going to make an offer sheet to Valtteri Filppula.
