What's with this sudden trend of wearing throwbacks?

Yeah it's a pretty common thing to see teams wear throwbacks every so often, but I do agree with you that it seems like teams are doing it a lot more frequently this season. I personally don't mind it in a 162 game season, but I think a big reason why it's becoming more prevalent is due to some teams now designating throwbacks as full time alternates (Brewers, Jays). This leads me to another question thats somewhat an extension of yours. Does the MLB have a rule that limits the number of "permanent" alts a team can have, and do they as well limit the number of "special occasion" unis a team can have?

I like it.

The more throwbacks...the better.

I agree. If we could just get some of these teams to stick with the throwbacks baseball would be an even better looking sport. (Off topic but...this is especially true in the NFL.)

I thought that teams missed some great throwback opportunities during interleague play. Reds v. Boston (1975), Wash. vs. Minn. (both as Senators), Texas v. Wash (ditto), Stl. v. Det. (1968), Det. v. SD (1984), Phi. v. Oak (old Philly series), just to name some obvious ones. A few wouldn't work as well, such as anyone vs. the Yankees who haven't changed their unis in several decades. Also, the Braves v. Tor. since the Braves are pretty much the same as 1992.

What if all interleague games involved throwbacks? it might be the only way I'd like to see them keep IL play.

That is a gret idea. If it is planned far enough in advance Majestic can actually make the uniforms not look like pajamas.
