i owned all the griffey games, and although i loved all of them you can't beat the original. i mean, at one point i'd won 50 straight w/the cubs to start one season...and i think i played that every day for a couple years or so

nhl 97, i liked. the nhl series imo has been crap since 99, i don't even give it a second look anymore, nowadays i favor faceoff and hitz...and i tell ya what, the goalies in hitz, they're beautiful. seriously...hey don't look at me like that :hockeysmiley:

Tecmo Super Bowl was my favorite. I made it to the Super Bowl every season and lost. Except for once...when I simmed the first 8 weeks of the season, and then took the 2-6 Jets to a 10-6 wild card berth and went on to beat the 49ers in the SB. I can't remember what I had for lunch today, but I still recall Tecmo highlights from 13 years ago! One time, I really pissed off my friend by scoring on a Hail Mary to tie the game on the last play of the 4th quarter, and then scoring the exact same way as time ran out in OT.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Baseball Stars yet... it was one of the first games that allowed you to create your own team, develop rookies into top veteran players... had a lot of stats too.

I had a link to a website where they play NHL '94 online in a league....

If you were a fan of RBI baseball, http://forums.dee-nee.com Many newer versions. I myself made a 3 rom set of all 30 teams from last season. Editors available at the dee-nee.com website. They talk about RBI baseball every single day.

TSB is as alive today as it was in the past. It has a cultish following, MANY, MANY online leagues of the NES version. They have managers so you can edit. Same game, current players. All you need is dial-up for most leagues. Even 2k4 versions. Here are a couple sites:

http://www.famssu.com/tecmo/ http://www.tecmoworld.com http://www.puretecmo.com

There is ONE SNES STB league: http://stbl.tecmobowl.org

One baseball stars league did exsist, and the members still play tecmo, but I think they got bored with it bso. If youd like to play the game with the 2002 MLB playoff teams, you can get the rom here: http://www.thecnfl.com/bso

There is also a brand new editor for Tecmo NBA, and also a place for tecmo super bowl, and they even sell old NES controllers with USB ends so you can use them on your computer. http://www.knobbe.org

www.knobbe.org also has a link that you can download, that lets you edit Ken Griffey Jr baseball rom for snes to update it with players and such.

Want to play some of these games on a dreamcast? http://www.dcemulation.com You can get virtually every game for nes, snes, and they even have emulators for n64, playstation, etc.

Hope this helped some.

I used to play the Castlevania games and Blades of Steel those were always my favorite NES games.

However I used to like Intellevision better, and 2 games in paticular Night STalker and Burger Time those were true classics.

burger time! nothing like getting chased by angry hot dogs, pickles, and a fried egg!

but as far as classic video games go, nothing tops mega man. hell maybe we can have sort of a challenge on here where each of us comes up with an idea for a robot master?

I believe it was either NHL 94 or 95 for genesis, that had unique arena attributes for each nhl team. example, when you played as the sharks in san jose, when you go on the power play the organ actually plays the JAWS theme and you see the fans doing the shark chomp. other examples include the "brass bonanza" song that was played when the whalers scored a goal in hartford, the blues had thier "when the saints go marching in", the blackhawks had that one arena organ tune that I dont know the name of....for an older game they did a great job on the attention to detail

Greatest game ever... NHL '94 by EA Sports for the Sega Genesis. That too had the side to side deal, me and my friends also made the rule you could only do it under certain circumstances. Oh man, I was the Buffalo Sabres all the time, Alexander Mogily is soo fast and awesome in that game. And Pat Lafontaine always got him the puck. :hockeysmiley:

absolutely.....i used to always play as either buffalo or vancouver...mogilny was amazing on that game, but the vancouver team with bure, ronning, linden, lumme, diduck, mclean, babych, ruutu, russ courtnall, and geoff courtnall was ridiculous....and odjic was the MACK. damn, i miss the days of drinking rolling rock, eating jeno's pizza rolls, and playing nhl '94 tournaments with my buddies....good times!

Man, I used to create tons! I find it's even more fun to come up with Mavericks for the X series because you got a power AND an animal (or plant) to give it to besides "Man". (My two favorites are plants (well, one's a fungus.))

I had NHL 95 for PC--but my computer at the time was too slow to do it well--still it was fun.

The old one Iplayed the most--Earl Weaver Baseball--very customizable--and although it would be primitive by today's standards--It was way ahead of it's time!

Others--

Omega Wars, World Class Leader Board, Space Quest (When you had to type in what you were doing--not pick multiple choices)

Comic Sans walks into a bar, and the bartender says, "Sorry, we don't serve your type here."

Well I still have my NES and SNES. I've since upgraded to PlayStation then the PS2, because the games are just so awesome. I however do have EVERY Madden game that was ever made, and I'm the best at the Duck Hunt game thats with Super Mario, No one ever beat me, my om even said that I sould be a police officer because of my marksmanship. Well I still play the baseball game, Super Bases Loaded 2 because I made a team of all girls, and I've lost a total of 4 games with it.

Speaking of video games, I am soon going to be the proud owner of a brand-new, second-hand Nintendo Gamecube. Any suggestions on what games I should get?

Games I'm considering include:

The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King

James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing

Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour

MarioKart: Double Dash

MLB Slugfest 20-04

NHL Hitz Pro

NFL Street or NFL Blitz Pro ?

NBA Street Vol. 2

Sega Soccer Slam

Super Smash Bros. Melee

SSX 3

Tony Hawk?s Underground

...as you can see, some of my preferences lean towards the arcardish type sports games. I'm not into the ultra violent games, be it the Tekken-type fighters or the action Vice City types.

Any other games you've played that are a must-get?

I added MarioKart Double Dash and Mario Golf Toadstool Tour to the list of specific games I'd like opinions on. I loved Mario Tennis and MarioKart for N64... interesting, because I've never owned, nor much liked, any of the specific Mario games.

Also added Sega Soccer Slam. After reading reviews of it and Midway's RedCard 20-03, Soccer Slam seems like the much better bet.

This is great, keep the opinions coming!

I only have a SNES system with only 6 games. I like Extra Innings. Don't know why though.... I used to have the origianl Atari system with dozens of games a few years. I can't believe what the system and games are selling for now!

I saw, I came, I left.
