PhilaLogos Posted August 2, 2008 Share Posted August 2, 2008 There's been discussion going on that the Sixers may finally bring back a red, white, and blue identity what with the re-emergence of the old logo and Elton Brand's photo shoot in the retro uniforms. What I did here was update the old logo, make a new secondary logo based on this Phillies bi-centennial patch, and incorporate some parts of past unifrom designs I liked; the script circa mid-90's uniforms and numbers circa 80's-90's uniforms. This would have been a great update from the Barkley era. Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse." BBTV Posted August 2, 2008 Share Posted August 2, 2008 Very nice work. I love the adaptation of the baseball patch for the secondary logo. A few thoughts:1. ShinyHubCaps is right about the outline on the 6. The bottom of the logo is tricky, because of the difference in colors of the numbers. I'm not sure how to fix it though. Maybe make half of the bell red, and half blue? Maybe just put the same outline on the 7? I'm not sure.2. The numbers in the alt logo could probably be a little bigger, even if they overlap the lines in the bell a little bit. It doesn't have to be so literal of an interpretation of the baseball version.3. Personally, I'd probably put PHILA on the alt jersey, just to keep a historical tie-in going. It looks fine with SIXERS too though.4. The shadows on the primary really need some work. As for the shadowing on the primary I agree it needs work but that's sort of my weakness as I designer at this point. I've come a long way but I still don't have much of an eye for shadows; I basically do the same crescent thing for every ball logo so I'm kind of stuck there unless anyone has specific ideas on how to improve it. As for the secondary there isn't much I can do I guess you kind of have to imagine it against a gray background so that the 6 looks isolated not outlined if that makes sense. Adding "Phila" to the alts was a good change. On reversing the highlighting on the primary, simply change the ball to the lighter color and change the highlight to the darker color. Pretty simple. Although, looking at this more, I think it may be fine as is. Maybe raise the back numbers up a little so that they're not so far down and closer to the names. The thing that kind of irks me about it is that the red/royal lettering slightly blends too much with the darker powder ball.
