rainmaker17
No link yet. Mr. Upshaw was definitely a polarizing figure in the NFL.

TFoA
And there's the 3rd. But wow, this is a shock, especially since he kept his illness private. It's kinda amazing that he was able to do his job with cancer. R.I.P.
Jigga
Wow...never even knew he had cancer. Though with pancreatic cancer, by the time one finds out about it, it's too late. DarkJourney
You would think major news sources would've picked it up by now. I'm still skeptical.

sacker12
MSNBC.com has the story on the website. http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/26326065/They just said on "Mike and Mike" that he found out about the cancer just last Sunday.
Mac the Knife
Wow. Didn't see this one coming. Not to kick the man when he's down, but in the grand scheme of things he was considered a lousy head of the NFLPA. He was often seen as kow-towing (sp?) to ownership and in the hip pocket of the Commissioner's office. Perhaps the next union head won't be perceived that way. McCall
I was tired of hearing him and wanted him out of office, but definately not this way. Still, a great player. Sport
Maybe now Ditka and Joe DeLamielleure can get their retired players pension raised. Still not the way you want to see someone leave office. My friend's dad died of pancreatic cancer. He learned he had it, two weeks later was dead. It was so fast, it might as well have been a car accident. You're right. Strange as well, given the move on behalf of some players to oust him before the next round of negotiations. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.
