FiddySicks
I'm still mad that Nomo won Rookie of the Year in 1995 when Chipper Jones had such a great Rookie Season. But who from the NL is really coming through as rookies other than Happ and Hanson?Um, hello. Pablo Sandoval, maybe?Played 41 games last year.Oh damn, I thought that in order to be eligible you couldn't have played in more than 50 games. The Giants network definitely should cut out all the Pablo for ROY talk then...EDIT: Just checked it, he's 9 at bats in 2008 too many to be eligible. Wow, this guy just can't catch a break On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) Korkie
Is J.A. Happ in the discussion for possibly NL ROY? Should he be?I just can't believe Happ is still considered a rookie. It feels like he has been around for 3 years. That being said, he absolutely should be in the discussion along with Hanson and Rasmus. I was thinking "isn't this the guy from a couple of years ago? Couldn't they do better?" Then I checked it out, and he actually didn't play nearly as much as I thought he did. Jigga
Korkie, that reminds me of Gregg Jeffries from about 20 years ago. He finished third in NL RoY voting in 1989, after finishing 6th in 1988 (played in 29 games, collecting 118 plate appearances), after having a 6 pinch hit cup of coffee in 1987... Dude was considered a rookie in parts of THREE seasons, and received RoY votes twice! On January 16, 2013 at 3:49 PM, NJTank said: Btw this is old hat for Notre Dame. BBTV
Phillies wife beater injured starter Brett Myers is apparently way ahead of schedule, and is trying to return (in a bullpen role) next month.Personally, I don't really want to see him on the field again, not only because I think he's an immature, wife-beating redneck, but unless he can be an effective starter, I'm not sure what role he would really slide in to in the 'pen. STL FANATIC
As much as I hate to say it, Colby Rasmus has to be the choice right now. However, things can (and hopefully will) change. Not sure what you've got against Colby (okay, pretty sure I am, actually), but he's 1 for his last 13, so things certainly can change. He does have as strong of a case as anybody for a Gold Glove, but he obviously won't win that. JayJaxon
Did the Phillies just decide to go undefeated in the second half or what? The Braves finally have a good thing going here and can't catch any ground because Philly won't lose!

Viper
I can't decide which is worse about tonight's Twins-A's game: that both pitching staffs are serving up gopherballs left and right, or that both teams are wearing their dark jerseys (Twins in blue, A's in black). No sane Mets fan can claim ownership is cheap. The Mets are what they are....a collection of losers and stiffs.Ok Tnak, Minaya gets fired and the Mets decide to (foolishly) select a fan as their next GM, and you get the nod. The Mets are 9 games back, yet you feel you're still a contender. What realistic moves are you making? Are you making deals for 2009, or are you making moves to contend in the future? My brother and I always do this, where we would try to realistically make our team better so they can contend. I'm interested in seeing what Tank comes up with if he were the GM of the Mets. DEAD!
That is a great question to ask a Mets fan, and it would work for other teams too. My brother and I always do this, where we would try to realistically make our team better so they can contend. I'm interested in seeing what Tank comes up with if he were the GM of the Mets.First, he'll ask Coke or Pepsi. If someone answers Coke, they will put on the bench. Follow that by firing Manuel and replace him with Rush Limbaugh. Then, a political questionnaire. If it turns out you're a liberal, you'll put on the 15-Day DL and probably be traded at the end of the season. After that, he would demand the retrofit of Citi Field's seats. Actually, before that, he would demand the name of the stadium changed to Shea Stadium. Then, he would demand a bailout from Obama to raise the payroll. He'll demand a new campaign of making the Mets "World's Team" There will also be a promotion called "Democrat Demolition Night". When that becomes unsuccessful, he'll come up with "Buzz Aldrin Recognition Night." In the offseason, he'll trade Jose Reyes to the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters for a Toyota Prius which he can use to paint it with the Phillies colours and at spring training he'll show the players he wants to demolish the Phillies by ramming the car with his GMC truck. I saw, I came, I left.
