Sure MJD is a great cornerstone, but last I heard 1 player can't make a team good. Look at Calvin Johnson in Detroit last year.

Apparently, Brett Favre did/has.

You're confusing having one great player with adding one great player. Brett Favre was the missing piece that the Vikings needed, but he's hardly the only good player on the Vikings' roster. If he were, his season would look a lot more like Jay Cutler's and a lot less like that of an MVP candidate.

A lot different than the '07 team...This Jags team has a terrible secondary (26th in pass D), David Garrard has regressed (He had a ridiculous 18/3 TD/INT ratio in '07...this year 8/6). They've been blown out by a terrible Seahawks team 41-0, barely squeaked past the Chiefs, Jets and Bills, and then got blown out 20-3 by the 49ers.

I'll be shocked if they get in over the Ravens, Steelers or even the Titans.

Apparently, Brett Favre did/has.

You totally misunderstood what I wrote. Calvin Johnson was the only great player on a historically terrible team.

Brett Favre was added to a playoff team loaded with talent.

17-year vet Jason Elam has been cut by the Atlanta Falcons.

....And has been replaced by Matt Bryant, formerly of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Florida Tuskers.

I suppose we have our first, "Damn, I got replaced by some UFL guy!"

I saw, I came, I left.

Kicked to the curb.

I saw this and a thought occurred to me. Elam played 17 seasons in The NFL. Even if his salary was only league minimum every year he would still have more than enough cash to never need to work another day. Not bad for a guy who kicked field goals and didn't have to get his brains kicked in (no pun intended) on a daily basis.

I think Kicker or Punter are the second and third best jobs in football. The best being 3rd string QB.

I didn't misunderstand what you wrote, I was making light of all of the praise heaped upon Brett Favre for completely turning around the Minnesota Vikings...who most people forget made the playoffs last season with Gus Frerotte and Tavaris Jackson under center.

That is one of the most amazing videos i've seen lately. I wish there were a lot more of these.

Agreed. What I wish some cable network would do is give us some truly unplugged NFL sound. No bleepouts, etc., just the raw audio from on the field and the sidelines. You get it accidentally now and again, like Josh McDaniels' recent "We're trying to win a motherf***ing game!" on NFL Network or Bucs' C Jeff Faine saying about a Saints blitzer he saw, "You got that guy out on the f***in' edge!", etc.

My favorite of all time was an ESPN primetime game, Falcons at Saints. Michael Vick was scrambling around like Fran Tarkenton and the sideline mic picked up a Saint yelling from the bench, "GET THAT MOTHERF***ER!"

Yeah it is. If I had taken the hit that Stafford took before the last play I'd still be laying there crying and begging for Vicodin. Hopefully, he's the start of something good for The Lions.

I have a feeling Stafford to Johnson is gonna be a nightmare for the rest of the teams in the North to deal with for quite some time.

One thing that game showed is that Stafford has guts. If the Lions can get him some protection and with Johnson to catch and a good runner to add some variety, I think the Lions, on offense at least, are not a million miles away from being a good team. I think the defense needs more consistency, but I think that they are moving in generally the right direction for the first time in a while. Looks like life after Millen might be pretty good!

I'm gonna go ahead and wait to see if Stafford can blow up against a team NOT named the Cleveland Browns before we start comparing to the likes of Rodgers or Favre.

Really? Because last year, all I heard about the Vikings was how they were a good quarterback away from being a Super Bowl contender.

And this year, I have heard a lot of praise for Favre for having a great season, but announcers usually also mention that he's benefiting from playing with Peterson.

I don't think anyone is officially declaring Stafford to be the next Joe Montana or anything.

And speaking of Adrian Peterson, it turns out running isn't the only thing he does really fast.

MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson could lose his driver's license after police clocked him driving at 109 mph -- nearly twice the posted speed limit -- on a suburban Minneapolis highway last weekend.
