njmeadowlanders
I didn't see anything on this prior, so pardon me if I missed it, but here's a photo from tonight's Boston/Rangers preseason game and check out what the ref is sporting:Definitely easier to see than the old band...but I don't like them. Brass
That referee is pretty large. He kinda looks like Citi Field, too.
jkrdevil
Yea these were used during the All-Star Game last year. The wide stripes of the reebok ref design doesn't bother me as I am now used to it after a couple of years in the NFL.
slapshot
I don't mind them. The extra orange makes it easier to differentiate between a ref and a linesman, I imagine it's easier for the players to tell the difference too.Orange is more visible than silver. jtthasportfreak
remember, the refs wore grey armbands at the 07 NHL all star game in Dallas. Dumb move, couldn't see them if they were signaling a delayed call
Gordie
Normally, I think putting stripes on the inner arm, (EDM,FLA), is a bad idea because they're less visible, but in this case it works, because you can really tell when the ref raises his arm. schlim
Tampa Bay's victory stripes just became penalty stripes.

HedleyLamarr
I went to the Thrashers preseason game last night, and the change is hardly noticeable, which is a good thing. The benefit is, not only are the stripes easier to see on the ice.....folks in the upper deck can clearly see these orange stripes when their arms are raised. The number font also changed. slapshot
That's why I don't mind them...the NFL stripes have changed, but from far away, you can barely notice the difference. Just enough to be proprietary, but not enough so it looks uncomfortably different.
Sabrejeff
The number font also changed. That's the only thing I don't like about them. They're hardly legible.
socal_sharks_fan
I Hate them.Im a referee and Id NEVER wear these. Then again,I refuse(And Los Angeles Hockey Officials Association) to wear the RBK ones. They like the CCM basic $50 one. These ones like the one in the picture is $150....thats rediculus when they tell you you need 3 total. -kj
I also ref, and I have one of the previous NHL-style referee shirts--the version with the black mesh underarms. I have to say it's mighty comfortable.This... well, I can't imagine showing up in that.
