Sodboy13
I will say this about Nike: while some of the criticism they get for college football is rightfully deserved, I've got to hand it to them for just flat-out going for it sometimes, and coming up with things that are extremely unconventional, be they hits or misses. I really thought there was some inspired genius mixed with flat-out crazy in their Pro Combat releases, and I like their willingness to let the freak flag fly now and again, even if it does occasionally result in Florida wearing toilet seats on the back of their pants.Compare that to Adidas, who seem content to slap a couple of contrast-colored, oddly-shaped side panels in there, and call it "proprietary." It's laziness masquerading as innovation and experimentation. And good Lord, let's not even start on Russell. BigDmo
Yeah I agree. Throw Under Armor into the mix too for crappy jerseys. At least with Nike it seems like they are making an effort to give a reason for every stripe or pipe. Seems like everyone else is doing it for fun. BBTV
And Under Armour and adidas have both made great uniforms too. Why the hell everyone blames the manufacturers and not the schools is beyond me. It's not like UA just shows up and says "here's this what you're wearing whether you like it or not." I'd bet a lot that the schools commission these designs (maybe not the actual specific design, but new designs) and have the final say about what they wear. andrewharrington
So, they took away the best part (the quirky numerals), and replaced the worst part (the white side panels) with something that is even more terrible? I still don't have a website, but I have a dribbble now! http://dribbble.com/andyharry [The postings on this site are my own and do not necessarily represent the position, strategy or opinions of adidas and/or its brands.]

It's not like IU called up Adidas and said "Give me a new jersey with your logo front and center, and make sure there are boomerang things on the sides." Adidas shows up with a few designs, and then Indiana picks which one they want. And for all we know, they all could be equally bad, if not worse. And for all we know, they all could be equally bad, if not worse.Or, Indiana says "none of those match the image we're trying to portray". I find it hard to believe that there's any apparel contract that gives final say on design to the manufacturer. Heck - I find it hard to believe that in any design contract, the designer and not the client get to dictate the rules.
