One game:

DETROIT RED WINGS @ PHOENIX COYOTES (Series tied 3-3) 9 pm EST

Nothing needs to be said. Game 7, Jets v. Wings. The Olympic Line looks to...sorry. The Olympic Line's been dead since John Paddock traded Teemu Selanne and Marc Chouinard of all people to Anaheim for Chad Kilger and Oleg Tverdovsky. I think the Ducks won that one.

Jesus. I no longer feel so bad about Francis and Samuelsson for Zalapski.

The game will be decided and shenanigans will be called when Phoenix wins the coin toss in overtime, allowing them to march down the ice and kick a touchdown, winning by six.

Remember how the Red Wings lost because they had to play a Sunday afternoon game after a Friday night game? Now they're playing Tuesday night after Sunday afternoon. That's added time for aging vets Franzen/Zetterberg/Datsyuk/Howard to rest their weary bones. Watch the hell out, once and future Jets.

But seriously, the only reason I'm giving the Red Wings a snowball's chance tonight is that the NHL's powers that be are too pants-on-head retarded to effect a proper conspiracy. This is why Gary Bettman will never be anything more than the poor man's David Stern. If David Stern wants something to happen, it happens. If David Stern wanted to make sure the Coyotes get more revenue-generating home games, we'd see Franzen and Zetterberg mysteriously get hit with game misconducts for illegal facial hair (beards are popular with the hip-hop community).

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Wow...I've heard of metaphorical franchise-killing trades, but I've never seen a literal franchise-killing trade before.

Losing Chouinard really hurt, it's true.
