I don't think he's a moron, but if you don't know much about the BCS, don't talk smack publicly about how certain schools don't belong in it. That was a stupid decision, especially since one of them could play tOSU in a bowl, and Gee's comments would almost certainly be bulletin board material for BSU or TCU.

Another interesting point: in 2007, when tOSU was on their way to a NCG, they played Akron, Youngstown State, Washington, and Kent State OOC, and their highest-ranked regular-season opponent was #19 Wisconsin. Is Gee willing to admit that the '07 Buckeyes were also unworthy of the title game based on their "Little Sisters of the Poor" schedule? Probably not. I'm just so sick of the collective hypocrisy of the BCS.

Another interesting point: Ohio State was the only BCS conference champion that had fewer than two losses before the bowls were played. No way in hell they weren't going to play in the BCS National Championship Game.

You really do have quite the selective memory, don't you?

And? Boise and TCU are undefeated with at least a similar schedule in quality.

As are Auburn with Oregon over better schedules. We're not discussing the worthiness of 2010 Boise State/TCU relative to 2007 Ohio State. We're discussing the worthiness of 2010 Bosie State/TCU relative to 2010 Oregon and Auburn.

...and Michigan still sucks!

btw, I am going to the game on Saturday. It will be my first OSU-Michigan game. If only they weren't wearing those damn pro-combat uniforms...

Also, E Gordon Gee is not a moron. He's one of the most in demand college presidents and makes about 2 mil a year. Forgive him for not knowing much about the current state of the BCS, but he's got other things on his plate.

Totally correct!

Gee is in demand since he is great as raising money and running a large school. He came back to tOSU from Vandy since the Board of Regents knew how good he is at his job. The Boise state President would say the same thing if he was working for a BCS school. Gee has an academic legacy and he does not care; he is telling it like it "TIS".

And... as an Ohio State fan I was the first to admit that we backed into that game and probably didn't deserve to be there. It's called objectivity. You should try it sometime.

Friday's predictions:

Nevada def Boise State 38-35

I hope that actually happens. I would love to see how "Dim Lights" would react to it. After all the only flaw in his team is their special teams coverage. How he'd explain a loss to Nevada would be poetry.

They aren't mine. Gotta credit Cujo with those.

Nevada's a good team, that's how I'd explain it. Sorry to disappoint.

It'll be a hard-fought game for sure, but the blowouts have been a tad boring lately.

Yeah right. I'm sure that's exactly what you'll do...provided there isn't one even remotely questionable call, bad weather, an injury, or anything else that could be construed as "unnaturally going against" Boise State. Lucky for them, the officials have no idea how much pressure you're putting them under to call a perfect game. It's hard to say if Mother Nature is aware of how perfect she needs to make the weather tomorrow night.

I'd imagine watching your team play a cupcake week after week would get boring. Or are all those blow-outs are just the result of a superior team dominating a brutal schedule?

Don't worry, you won't disappoint.

Anyway, a lot of interesting games going on today. If there's going to be any sort of shake-up day in the BCS standings, today's game will be the best chance for that.

Auburn's in a position where they can lose to Alabama, yet still could get into the BCS Championship if they beat South Carolina in the SEC Championship Game. How?

Simple: The old "complete body of work" argument. Auburn would be a 12-1 SEC champion. Alabama's likely to jump over a couple few teams after beating Auburn. LSU (assuming they beat Arkansas, though Arkansas's high in the rankings too, so an LSU loss won't be all that bad) could jump TCU in the polls. The computers are going to absolutely love Auburn's strength-of-schedule if LSU and Alabama are both in the top-8. Disillusioned Boise State fans are gonna whine and complain, but other than saying "We went undefeated!", their complete body of work won't be impressing the computers like Auburn's would. That said....Auburn absolutely cannot get blown out by Alabama. They won't have enough time to overcome that.

Speaking of Boise State...if they want to keep themselves in the "schedule strength" argument, they can't blowout Nevada the way TCU blew out Utah. BSU needs to give the voters a reason to still think highly of Nevada, and a 30-point loss won't do that.

Oregon might be able to play the "body of work" card. An Auburn loss would give those voters who are a little antsy about putting a team that will likely forfeit all of its games this season into the national title game a reasonable out for voting against them.
