TFoA
Word on the twitturzzz is that the Nets have had a better W-L record than the Knicks over the past 3 weeks, which shocked the hell out of me. I forget if I said this on here or twitter, but yeah, that Knicks team is only gonna go as far as Amare carries them. When Amare was playing out of his mind at a MVP level back in December, the Knicks could beat anybody in the league. Now that he's back to "normal" (which is still pretty damn good, one of the top C/Fs in the NBA), the Knicks have tapered off a bit. Of course, this only confirms that the Knicks are one piece away from jumping into contention, but it also confirms that they aren't there like we thought they were back in December. Lights Out
In other weird fun fact news, both the Lakers (19-8) and Clippers (16-14) have winning records at home. Staples may very well be the toughest place to play in the NBA. POTD: 2/4/12 3/4/

Staples may very well be the toughest place to play in the NBA.As far as the Clippers go, a two game above .500 home record doesn't really constitute a tough place to play, not an easy place but not a tough place. Now turning my attention to some homer talk, the whole Melo to LA doesn't really have much ground. Although the news broke on the thursday (the 3rd) before the Super Bowl yet ESPN said it was Breaking News yesterday. Now there was new information involved but the story wasn't new.I seriously doubt the Lakers deal will go through, the Nuggets best chance is the Knicks and even that seems like a huge stretch at this point. The Nuggets front office has really dropped the ball on this one. Waiting this long to see if something better comes along has left them with little to no options. Whatever they get in return for Melo isn't going to help them much.

TFoA
The Lakers already said that they're keeping Bynum, so unless the Nuggets are like the Grizzlies and willing to take a sack of potatoes from the Lakers in exchange for Melo, Carmelo isn't going to be a Laker.I do agree with you, though. The Knicks have the best shot at this, & even then it's a small shot. It's looking more & more likely that the Nuggets are going to end up just letting Melo walk at the end of the year.EDIT: Your #1 source for Cavs coverage. rams80
You know, the fact that the Cavs hovered around .500 during the first 15 games of the season doesn't really disabuse me of the notion that early season NBA games are glorified exhibition games that count. knnhrvy16
And the Jazz flush another game down the flippin' toilet. 91-86 to the **growls through clenched teeth** Bulls, all while missing eight free throws and ending the game with THREE straight gosh dang turnovers. Watching Boozer get stuffblocked twice in the game was awesome, but half-decent basketball when it matters and a win would've been great too. With quite a few sloppy games over the past month (including a real scare in Sacramento, of all places), I haven't been this frustrated watching the Jazz in a long time. The opinions I express are mine, and mine only. If I am to express them, it is not to say you or anyone else is wrong, and certainly not to say that I am right. infrared41
Also, the Spurs have an outside shot at 70 wins this year and no seems to have noticed.Unfortunately, the same can be said for the championships they've won. Since 1999 the Spurs have exactly one less championship than the Lakers but the Spurs are rarely mentioned as being a "great champion" or whatever term is used for a team that's won multiple titles in a relatively short span. loogodude90
So I don't think it was explicitly said here yet, but the Cavs lost tonight. That means the Cavs are one more loss away from the matchup conditions we all want to see on Sunday. Come on Clips, you can do this. By combining a boring fundamental approach with so much flopping and call-pleading that you're asking where the soccer ball is, they've earned the eye-rolling dread of most NBA fans. Even those ass-chapping college-ball gumps who howl for more "teamwork" and less "thuggery" can't get up for the Spurs. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
loogodude90
I hardly ever watch the Spurs, so I can't comment much on their players and style. But any team that can be that successful while being that under-the-radar has a lot of my respect. They are like a much less annoying version of the Lakers. Also, I guess another reason they don't get much attention is that they haven't won consecutive titles during this era, which makes them seem less like a dynasty and more just a really good team that wins a lot. In the NBA at least I don't think most fans consider it a dynasty unless there are consecutive championships involved. MadmanLA
For the first time in forever, the Clippers actually won a road game, and in MSG at that! Hopefully this momentum will carry throughout the rest of this long road trip.I would hope so, because the schedule gets somewhat easier over the next four games, including visiting those sad-sack Cavaliers in Cleveland tomorrow night. I just hope the Clippers can avoid their usual trend of following-up a big win with an inexcusable loss. After that, it's on to Toronto (Sunday), Milwaukee (Monday), and Minnesota (Wednesday) before the All-Star break.

TFoA
What a sad day in NBA history. Jerry Sloan deserved to go out like a king in Salt Lake, instead of having to quit right out of nowhere. SMH, Jazz. Shaking my damn head.
