Sterling84
Can we see the patch? When I get the jerseys in the next few weeks I'll take a pic and post it yeah. Were you able to see the other logos that were in competition with yours over a year ago? I don't quite know how to answer that question. If you mean, did I see the other entries Pantone collected from this board? Then yes. But everyone here saw those. Pantone might even still have them up on SSUR.orgBeyond that the only "competition" I had was that the team showed sample alternate jerseys to the fans on fan appreciate night late in the season in '03. The only other samples were designed by the jersey manufacturer and featured an elipse with the Moose "Antler" M in the middle. Not bad, but pretty generic. That antler M can still be seenhereThankfully the fans picked mine overwhelmingly (for the alternate) and the rest is history. Since that time I haven't had to bid on work or compete for any job with them. For instance, when it was time to add the text and sky to make it primary they just asked and I did it. They trust me, I love working with them. It's nice.Does that answer your question? The Official Cheese-Filled Snack of NASCAR

Yeah but I thought they just had a huge fan competition to see who could produce the best alternate logo and you just happened to get picked. Sterling84
Yeah but I thought they just had a huge fan competition to see who could produce the best alternate logo and you just happened to get picked. Nope. In fact, when Pantone started this very thread I wasn't even a member here. Just a lurker.I made a sketch, sent it to Pantone to include, then got antsy and emailed the Moose director of marketing directly.I know he did look at all the submittals very carefully and gave them their due. But I think since I contacted him directly, and pretty much knew what he wanted immediately ..i.e a Sabres-like aggressive head....... we started working together almost instantly. It wasn't finalized or whatever by the GM for months, but it was also never an anonymous contest like "We've picked design number such and such!! Congratulations!!"You can pretty much read up on what happened if you go all the way back to page 1 of this thread. They never said, this is an official contest and there WILL be a "winner". They were just looking for ideas. I'll put it this way.......the thread says contest.....but it wasn't one. It was one very foreward thinking marketing director asking US of all people, for help. No strings no promises. But it was the greatest thing they couldve done. Not just for me, but for all of us. I wish all teams would do this. With the talent here, they would get a tremendous pool of choices to pick from.It was much more collaberative and rational than you might think. Let that be a lesson to everybody. I'm convinced I only got this gig cause I said forget this contest junk, I'm contacting them directly cause I know I can do it.Fate will only get you so far, then you have to go make it happen. And I dont mean that in the arrogant way it must sound. I mean that as an encouragement. We can't blame teams for not finding US. And once they've found us, you can't trust that they will just PICK yours from 25 solid ideas. I knew the idea behind mine was sound, but I knew the execution of it was sloppy and incomplete. I didnt want the team ONLY seeing that kinda crap sketch. So I headed it off at the pass, emailed him and started a dialogue, making huge strides in its progress and our business relationship almost immediately. Its still sales, its still marketing yourself and taking control of the situation. Now, that was way back when I wasnt a member and didnt have any particular attachment to any of you. Now, I'd have a harder time "going behind the collective's back" so to speak. I'd likely make my progress known in real time like the Stampede situation. But you still have to do what you have to do. Right? The Official Cheese-Filled Snack of NASCAR
the_cynic
Thanks for that explanation of what happened Sterling. You caught your break and set the bar for the rest of it. Your situation is a true example of how miracles can happen! If anything, we should be thankful towards members like you and the leader of all of this........Chris Creamer! Without him we wouldn't have this professional board to post concepts and get feedback. I think this board has a very bright future ahead of it. Sterling84
As promised........photos of the "will never be used" MTS Centre Inaugural Season patch. In the close-up, the flash did me in. But in the other, you can see what the coloration is really like. The last shot is me and my buddy Jon modelling the backs.I've got the only four of these patches ever made. Pretty sweet I think. And RE: the Moose vs Admirals game March 17th......I'll be sitting in SEC 213 Row E if anyone in the area wants to say hi. And We're doing happy hour at the Hotel Metro beforehand.Enjoy. The Official Cheese-Filled Snack of NASCAR
