dfwabel
There are two good reporters who say this is true. Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski and Matt Steinmentz are connected. If true, I don't think that LAL will go after Howard in a trade, or they will have other issues to deal with and that Kobe wants to score more than ever before. At least Mike Brown is not hitting the beer within a Gatorade squeezie like Rudy T was doing on the bench.I do no think that Mike Brown is a bad coach. He just had to deal with LeBron and his mess and now possibly Kobe and his "demands". You cannot win, so just take the money!
Saintsfan
There are few things more pathetic than a franchise essentially making a bet with their fanbase. Wow.They aren't making a bet with their fanbase, they are offering incentives to buy season tickets. That seems a pretty reasonable thing to do really. 2011/12 WFL Champions

Saintsfan
Mmmmm hiring a guy with a .663 record, what on earth are the Lakers thinking! Never coached a losing season, only once under 50 wins, over 60 wins in last 2 seasons coached. Assistant to Greg Poppovich and Rick Carlisle. For a 41 year old coach, that seems to me a pretty damn good resume. 2011/12 WFL Champions

NJTank
Two words Playoff Medicority. He could not get LeBron James to a championship despite two straight seasons with best regular season record. Heck they did not even reach Conference Finals those two years. www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com

As for playoffs, that's a fair point, but then again the guy has lead a team to the NBA finals, and there aren't many available coaches that can make that claim. 2011/12 WFL Champions

ESTONES6
Its all going to depend on who Brown has coaching the offense. The man knows defense... his defense works. However, he is absolutely clueless on how to coach an offense. There are 2 outcomes I see coming form this:The first, being that Brian Shaw stays with the Lakers, running the triangle offense or they hire some sort of other assistant coach to implement and run the offense. I think if they have an assistant that can actually implement and run an offense (John Kuester was/is terrible), then the Lakers could be a serious contender with Mike Brown's defense. The other possible outcome, and this isn't a joke, the Lakers hope to do poorly next year, and the year after, let Kobe's contract expire, trade away high value players like Gasol, Bynum, Odom, Brown, and hope to rebuild through the draft in 2012-2013 and 2013-2014.Do the Lakers really have a plan once Kobe is done? Gasol isn't a franchise player... neither is Bynum. I honestly think their End-Game is hoping to do poorly enough to get a high draft pick for a few consecutive years, grab the next Kobe/LeBron/Durant and hope they get lucky in the meantime drafting a couple of Odom/Harden type players.
