Plaxico Burress Possible Locations

If the NFL does have a season, where will Plax go? If you forget who Plaxico Burress is, he caught the game winning touchdown in Super Bowl XLII and cost the Giants a shot at Super Bowl XLIII by shooting himself. For me, I will say Plax's best fit is to go to Cleveland, Oakland or Miami.

I don't want it to happen, but the story broke a couple of weeks ago that the Eagles are the most likely spot. One of his former teammates on the Giants (can't remember who) actually referred to him as if he already was an Eagle. I cannot for the life of me understand this one - they intentionally didn't draft him solely because he was an idiot (did a few dumb things during his visits to the facility, including no-showing a pre-draft interview and getting spotted at the Sixers game and then an AC casino), and they just don't need him. Baffling.

I don't want him in Cleveland. Once a Steeler always a Steeler, you can't wash that stench away. Same goes for Santonio Holmes, and luckily our coaching staff seems pretty content with our WR core for this upcoming season. So I'd be surprised to see them sign someone like Plaxico.

Since Steve Spagnuolo has a hard on for old washed up Eagles and Giants players, St. Louis has been tossed in as a possible destination.

He was referring to his own post.

Back on topic - apparently he was wearing a '80s Phillies cap upon his release. Not sure if this means anything or not - maybe he just thought that the P stood for Plax.

Better than wearing a Houston Colt 45s!

I wonder who in the NFL is gonna take a chance on a 34 y/o WR who's been out of the game for 2 years? Plax is on the wrong side of 30, had plenty of attitude/off-the-field issues before he did his bid, and while he was one of the top receivers in the league for a time, he was clearly on the way down before he shot himself. I don't see there being any sort of bidding war, and even if he lands with a NFL team, he'll probably be a slot receiver at best. The only reason why I don't have him going to Canada or something is because it's the NFL: One of these crazy GMs is gonna give him a shot.

So a lot of people are saying Eagles...I do not agree. They have #10 (I refuse to say his name because I was there that fateful), Avant, and Maclin. The Eagles already have enough receivers.

You can never have too many anything in the NFL.

I'm with you for the most part, but they haven't had a physical receiver since TO, nor have they ever had anyone who could catch a fade (of course they didn't have a QB who could throw one either though.)

Avant is a very nice #3 - but that's all he is. He gets exposed when over used. Adding another good receiver (and I'm NOT saying that Plaxico is necessarily that guy) would allow them to use all of their receivers for their strengths while masking some of their weaknesses.

Plaxico... with that very plastic name, he should play in some DuPont Neumors Company flag football team.
