johnnysama
Every now and then, the Uni Watch blog features some people who have made DIY jerseys. I must say, they are quite impressive, all of them. But who amongst us here has tried something similar? I've thought about doing something like that, with the 1986/7 Chargers navy blue jerseys. I am a pretty simple guy, and use simple designs for various reasons. So, if you have something you've done, or are thinking about making, post it here! Discogod
I made a '75-76 New York Nets jersey a few years back:2-pack of white vests for £5, about £2's worth of coloured twill, and some iron-on webbing. Total cost was less than £10, and it took about 2 hours total. Just a quick little project for a rare day off.
phutmasterflex
I do DIY bobbleheads. I paint over old ones with players in their current gear. Does that count? Go A's!

The right edge of the wide blue stripe (with the white stars inside) should line up with the seam, not be centered on top of it.Oh, also, if you're going to make a DIY basketball jersey out of a wifebeater, perhaps you should put Jason Kidd's name and number on it. robbman21
Well...this is a sore subject with me because making these and - like a dumbass - selling them at my own cost with no profit gained from it got me in a LOT of serious trouble about 5 years ago. I don't have the pics of the best ones I've done, but here's some samples.1970's Cowboys Roads2005 Arkansas Razorbacks Darren McFadden1961 Yankees Mantle

robbman21
I made it for a member here on the boards. He has a massive jersey collection and this was one of his whales, and he and I worked really closely on it to get it as close as I possibly could to the on-field jersey from the era, and he was very pleased with it. nash61
I bought a unique Blue Jackets jersey a while ago, because it was the only full-sized embroidered Stinger logo I had ever seen. I want to add some white stripes to the jersey, but I can't decide where. Ideas? Here is a photo of the jersey. And here it is in digital form (ignore the Edge cut, it's CCM classic) On September 20, 2012 at 0:50 AM, 'CS85 said: It's like watching the hellish undead creakily shuffling their way out of the flames of a liposuction clinic dumpster fire. Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy. hawk36
Would love to do this but what's the best way to get the lettering and numerals? Is there a place that does them where you can order and attach yourself? Design Hovie Studios
BlueSky
Yeah, sorry, missed the part about getting in trouble. Bummer. With that said, the older, more generic jerseys it seems to me would be less of a problem since there are no logos etc. on them and any team anywhere could have worn a similar jersey. spyboy1
I have made a couple of custom projects. I have not gone so far as to do the sewing myself, but I did come up with the concepts and had these produced. This is a early 90's Hartford Whalers alternate that never was. At the time they had a blue road and white home set. I found this blank green lace up collar jersey blank and bought the pucky the whale patches separately off of ebay, which at the time was a rare find. I then chose the color pattern for the name and numbers and had it customized. I later found out it was a Plymouth Whalers uncrested jersey. This next one was a blank Ottawa 67's jersey I had made into an Ottawa Senators throwback barberpole style, complete with the white square on the back for the numbers. Again, I had to locate all the proper patches for the main crest and shoulders off of ebay and even added a memorial patch to the chest to bring it into modern times. I then did an old time version with a Willabee and Ward "1904 Champions" patch. I chose 7 for the "Ottawa Silver Seven".
