No amount of statistics in the world will leave me to think a team with a rotating stable of Kevin Kolb, John Skelton, Ryan Lindley, and Brian Hoyer is as good as a team with even the rookie version of Andrew Luck.

They were quite a lucky team, no doubt about that. But there's a reason Arizona finished the season on a 1-11 skid.

I understand that it's up to coaches to pull players if they're hurt but more responsibility should be placed on the players. Griffin insisted he could play even though he clearly couldn't. If he had gone to Shanahan and said I can't go no more I think he would of understood and put Cousins in earlier.

Griffins himself is pretty remarkable and hope for the sake of the league he comes back just as strong next season.

The Redskins made a choice between a long-term run on top of their divisions with a top-flight quarterback or potentially sacrificing said quarterback's career to maybe win a playoff game.

They deserve what they get.

The RG III thing was tough to watch. No way he should have been playing at all much less when he went down for good.

On a more general note, the new-breed QBs like him and Wilson and Cam are all well and good but I just don't think that style of play can be sustained at the NFL level without a lot of injuries. Even when they slide and so on, there's always going to be a play here and there when they get laid out or blindsided.

I donno. Ben Roethlisberger seems to be doing alright.

The Colts are worse than the Arizona Cardinals.

The Colts are worse than the Arizona Cardinals.

Arizona 16 5 11 0 250 357 -6.6875 2.4 10.4 14.1 -10.3 -1.8 -3.1 -5.7 1.0 7.8 6.5 7.5 -3.1 -5.9 10.4 -4.1 6.1 7.8 -4.3256

Indianapolis 17 11 6 0 366 411 -2.647058824 -2.0 6.1 1.0 -11.8 6.5 -5.9 -4.1 -8.8 -1.8 -11.8 14.1 -5.7 -4.1 -8.8 5.4 -13.4 5.4 4.1 -4.6261

As you can see, of the numbers that make absolutely no sense, the Colts have numbers that are clearly different from Arizona's. For example: Arizona's negative number at the end of the list that makes absolutely no sense is -4.3256 while the Colts negative number at the end of the list that makes absolutely no sense is -4.6261.

In the numbers with no more than three digits that come before a bunch of negative numbers column, the Cardinals again have the clear advantage with a 16 5 11 0 250 357 to the Colts 17 11 6 0 366 411.

I knew that the Colts were playing well above what their statistics would indicate, but I had no idea it was by that much.

CuJo, that wasn't a boatrace. It was still a two score game, and really it should have been a lot closer.

Boatrace = One team teakes the lead, keeps it the rest of the way, usually pulling away as it goes on. -- Exactly what Baltimore did today.

Do you even listen to Jim Rome (which is where the phrase was coined)?

First, I find it hard to believe that Jim Rome was the guy that coined boatrace. I feel this is a wide term. Second, that's never what I've understood "boatrace" as. I always thought of it as another term for blowout, and I wouldn't consider Colts/Ravens as a blowout in the general sense.

Seems like the definition has evolved over the past 15 years. Not a big deal.

From this viewer's perspective, it felt as if the Colts were never going to take the lead in that game, regardless of how big B-More's lead was.

Cam Newton can't be compared to the other two, because Newton has the build of a linebacker. He will be able to withstand blows much better than Griffin will, and Russell Wilson seems to do a great job at avoiding dangerous contact.

I disagree about Cam given the size and speed of NFL defenders. He may be less likely to get hurt but I wouldn't say unlikely. But I hope you're right since I hate to see anybody injured.

Well, Shanahan lied outright about Dr. James Andrews personally clearing RGIII to return. That's a problem, and might indicate that Shanahan recognizes his responsibility.

Given how capricious Dan Snyder has been in firing head coaches, you'd have to think that lying about doctor's orders to dress a player and jeopardize his health would definitely send Shanahan to the guillotine.

Screw that. If I was Washington, or ANY NFL team with a legit starting QB, I don't put him out there unless it's absolutely necessary, especially when it comes to their knees. What a powerfully stupid decision.

What constitutes this "absolutely necessary" situation?

I'd think a 1-point lead in the 4th quarter, when the opposing team has clear momentum, would fall into that category.....

Partial ACL and PCL tears it seems like

Also Clemons of Seattle tore his ACL as well.

I wonder why the NFL didn't demand the Redskins replace their turf like they did back in '06 to the Patriots...

Losing Clemons is huge. They have a number of play makers on that defense but Clemons is arguably the one guy they can't afford to lose. This team struggles to rush the passer and Clemons is the only the real threat on that D-line to consistently get to the QB. Bruce Irvin has had some success but he isn't an every down player yet. Hopefully he can step up. Against a top passing team like Atlanta this could be the difference maker.

The league really needs to get rid of natural grass fields. Roger Goodell can't keep talking about player safety without addressing the increased risk of injuries these fields cause.
