He still didn't a good job at Ole Miss, and had nothing to lose coaching the Trojans after the ASU disaster. I'm still skeptical of him being successful long term at a good program.

Yeah, I wouldn't want him anywhere near my team and we're averaging .5 conference wins a season under our coach (who is confirmed to be back next year). He took over Ole Miss while they were doing pretty good and drove them into the ground. USC had a roster stacked of 5-star talent that was held back by Lane Kiffin. He'll probably get a head coaching job this off-season, but I wouldn't take that chance.

Orgeron's a significant reason why USC had a roster stacked of 5-star talent despite being under major sanctions.

Which is why he'd be a great defensive assistant/recruiter at a top flight school, but not a head coach. He had a chance coaching an SEC team in his home state and had a horrible run. USC is going to pull in great recruiting classes regardless of the head coach. I'm not sold on him taking full control of another team in a power conference and apparently USC isn't either.

He's from Louisiana.

Although seriously, Beckman sucks at coaching AND recruiting. Orgeron is better than him.

For one, do we even know if the old man was an Arizona fan? And second, judging by how drunk college kids tend to act, there's a very good possibility that kid deserved being kicked in the face. If nothing else, he was daring the old man to hit him in the face.

Actually being at that game (and the game last year in Tucson), my feelings are quite a bit different. That old man is sitting in the student section, which unless he's the oldest communications major in the school, he shouldn't even be there. Security should've been on top of that, because they don't allow non student's (especially who are wearing the other team's gear) in the student section because it's rowdy and they want to prevent anyone, from either side, from provoking a fight. The section is as well set up specifically for students, so you have to go to the school (or be with a friend who's an ASU student) to even get a ticket there. During the Wisconsin game, a bunch of Wisconsin fans snuck down to the student section wearing maroon shirts and proceeded to rip them off and display their Badgers gear. They were yanked out immediately by security. Second, I've seen some downright deplorable behavior by Wildcats fans at both of these games when it comes to provoking fights and tossing insults. I've never seen a group of fans take things as personally as some Wildcats fans do. When you get ribbed a bit by opposing fans, you're supposed to take it in stride and have the perspective to realize it's just a game instead of trying to throw punches and threatening to kill someone (as I've seen several times). No matter if the kid "was asking for it" or not (which is absolutely ridiculous in of itself) there is NO EXCUSE for kicking someone in the face as that guy did.

Oh well, enjoy preparing for the Idaho Potato Bowl or whatever, Wildcats fans. We'll just focus on hosting the PAC 12 Championship Game and trying to earn another bid in the Rose Bowl.

Not that the U of Arizona would know anything about the Rose Bowl though...

So ESPN just announced that they're canceling the Ron Burgundy portion of SportsCenter tonight because of some breaking news that's about to drop in the Jameis Winston case… Uh oh.

That's pretty silly, since the prosecutor isn't going to announce the findings until tomorrow at 2 ET.

But, if you believe Terez Owens, Winston's in the clear.

Y! Sports suggests that he's not going to be charged, saying it would be out of the state attorney's character to have a press conference to announce charging a person with a crime. Assuming the case was given due diligence, good for Jameis.

So an old guy sitting in the wrong section of a football game is wrong, but a Diamondbacks season ticket holder that moves to a better seat at a baseball game is perfectly acceptable.....

Got it.

You're still on this one huh?

It's a bit different when it's a mid season day game vs the Mets that's at under half capacity and a sold out rivalry game that determines the conference and is known to have a long history of fights.

OT, but I expect the new Anchorman to be a total letdown.

Someone legitimately asked "was there a sexual assault" in the press conference.

Wow. I wish I could be so stupid with my job.

I do like his responses to some of these stupid questions. The one you mentioned being met with the response "Uh, that's kinda why we're here..."

To be fair, when you state that the reason for not pressing charges is "a conviction was unlikely," that doesn't rule out a sexual assault.

Now that the cloud of uncertainty is gone, Winston and the Seminoles can get back to focusing the game against Duke for the ACC Championship.

One thing that bothered me throughout the whole thing: Why will until now to have these allegations thrown at him when it happened in 2012? Shouldn't something of been done, say, when it supposedly happen?
