Rite of Spring 2013 (NHL Playoffs): "You have no fear of the underdog, that's why you will not survive."

Same ol' Sharks

A 2-goal lead is nothing in hockey. I'd be shocked if the Sharks didn't get back in it soon.

The 2-goal lead is the most dangerous to have in hockey/soccer.

If you lead by 1 goal, then it's just a close game where anything can happen, and there's plenty of time for anyone to be a hero.

If you lead by 3+ goals, then it's a safe lead where a comeback would probably take too long.

If you have a 2-goal lead, when you allow the 1st goal, not only your lead is chopped in half, you lose all momentum, to where the other team can use it to grab the 2nd goal. At that point, your team is screwed.

Do the Kings have to make the SCF for Jonathan Quick to be Conn Smythe eligible?

Not technically, no, as the Smythe is the PLAYOFF MVP as opposed to the FINALS MVP.

But it's never happened that a non Cup participant has won. There have been Cup losers to win, most recently JS Giguere in 2003, but no non-Finalists.

Which he didn't deserve over Brodeur...

Puckguy Suicide wa...

Sigh, why even bother anymore? It's lost all its luster. Just another playoff exit for the Sharks. Par for the course. Go Hawks.

Some people value individual awards over team awards. As a Kings fan, I could care less if any of the players win individual awards, it's about the Cup. If a Kings player never wins an individual award for the rest of the franchise, and there are multiple Cups, then I'm all for that. The Cup is what matters, not individual awards.

Devils won the Cup... should have had the Smythe too...

I don't see why it would bother any Devils fan that Giguere won the Conn Smythe, anyway.

I mean, gee whiz, who won the more important piece of silverware at the end of the day? Giggy and every (Mighty) Ducks fan on the planet would be glad to make a trade.

The only people still irked by the 2003 Smythe selection are those Brodeur fans engaged in their battles with Patrick Roy fans to assess the greatest goaltender in the modern NHL era.

Sharks got no goals from their bottom six in this series, correct? There you go.

Well, from here on out, Sharks, you are the Calgary Flames, so do with that what you will.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

The argument is that the refs gave the Devils a five minute boarding major 10 minutes into Game 6. The Kings scored three goals on the major and effectively ended the game. Devils fans will say it was questionable to give the major as opposed to a minor. I'll agree with that specific sentiment, but the Kings were still going to win that game. Devils couldn't get anything going and couldn't stop the Kings anyway.

Lest we forget the Devils were actually down 3-0 in the series at one point... But I digress...
