And people will love to mention what happened last year in the playoffs. Peyton didn't have his greatest game, but it's not his fault Rahim Moore had the biggest :censored: up a DB has had in a long time in the NFL, all things considered. Erase that, and Peyton's one-and-done woes aren't a story in 2012, and the Broncos probably reach the Super Bowl.

Rahim Moore didn't throw the game-losing pick in overtime. Moore (and Champ Bailey as well) was the convenient scapegoat for Broncos fans, but it shouldn't be forgotten that Peyton still had a chance to lead Denver to the win after that play and failed in similar fashion to so many of his other playoff flameouts.

I was instantly reminded of the Bartman ordeal after I read this.

The Bears GM held a press conference today and it sounds like they're going to be trading a lot of personnel on defense before the deadline. Tim Jennings is definitely gone, hopefully Peppers gets shipped away as well. Team sounds like they're committing to the 3-4 next year without saying so.

Cutler's out 4-weeks and change w/ a torn groin; Lance Briggs out a month with a shoulder fracture. With Tillman constantly hurt, Melton and Collins gone for the season, and a long way to go it appears the Bears are playing out a lost season. Top 5 pick ahoy.

Not everyone baseball Cardinals fan is a Rams fan. In fact and unfortunately, very many are not.

But lots of us are.

And let me just say that for all the hatred you have of us because of the baseball team we're spoiled with, the Rams are our punishment. Thankfully I got to witness a Super Bowl championship. Some cities have it much worse in that regard.

But since that brief era ended, nobody has had it worse. When they suddenly seem marginally competent, then the one irreplaceable piece goes down and another season ends in misery.

The sport of football in general hates me, though. Oskee-wow-wow, Illinois. /sigh

Cleveland and Buffalo beg to differ.

I've had this dark theory for awhile that there's this Cardinals fan with the a direct line connection to the deities governing sports karma who trades in the Rams good fortune for extended Cardinals playoff runs. He must be destroyed.

The Chiefs record the past 2 years have honestly been flukes. Last year they had a ton of talent on that team, they just didn't have a the right guys at a few spots (QB) and a bad coach. The whole team flamed up and burnt to crap. This year they have the right players at those positions, at least people decent enough to let the team play up to their potential. The fact is the Chiefs haven't really been tested this year, the Broncos will be a great tell. I'd like to see them play from behind with THAT passing game.

The 7-11 Rams set a modern league mark for most consistently futile performance.

Titans owner Bud Adams just died today. He was 90 years old. Two Oilers greats in less than a week. Wow.

Yep. To be clear, Rams80 is saying 2007-2011. That had me confused for a moment. But indeed, that's the worst 5 year stretch in NFL history.

And while we have the silly discussion about which tortured fan base has it worse, here's the three teams records from 2005-present:

STL: 39-95-1

CLE: 46-89

BUF: 51-84

There's unfortunate facts about all the teams in that time frame.

• The Rams are the only team in those 9 (8+) seasons between the three to have ever lost 14 or more games. They've done so 4 times.

• The Browns are the only team to have had a winning record in those seasons. They did it once at 10-6 (and missed the playoffs). They lost between 10-12 games every other season (not counting this incomplete year).

• The Rams finished .500 one time in that time span, but the Bills have finished below .500 every year with records between 5-11 and 7-9.

• With the above in mind, unsurprisingly, none of the three teams has made a playoff appearance in that time frame.

Yikes.

While I believe cutting it off to that time frame, the Rams indeed get the notch for treating their fans to the worst football, I'm more than willing to give the overall suffering title to one of the other two fan bases since the Rams did have a fun era in the years before that including a Super Bowl victory and another appearance.

Still sucks to be a Rams fan right now just as it has for nearly the last 10 years.

Colts kicker Pat McAfee being tested for steroids by the league. This comes after his big hit last night vs Denver

This isn't a joke is it? I actually expect this from the league. Sad.

There needs to be a convenient shorthand reference for those squads and since "Spaglahan" is too inside-baseball a portmanteau and "The Triumph of Death" is too long, I figured naming them after a crappy convenience store chain most notable for getting robbed all the time is the best bet-particularly since the years work.

I kind of like The Triumph of Death.

Who do you all think St. Louis will bring in as our new QB?

I've heard names like Tim Tebow and Vince Young thrown around on social media and the radio.

ESPN is reporting John Skelton, David Carr and Matt Leinart. Also heard Brady Quinn got released today from the Jets.

Too bad we missed out on Josh Freeman.
