It was definitely about time for him to go (and I was pretty vocal about that), but that just makes me sad.

That the Golden Knights are dominant at home but trash on the road seems like proof of concept that hockey players are ambulatory holes that drugs and alcohol go into and can be trusted in Las Vegas about as reliably as a priest in day care.

Jesus, guy. Curb the nihilism, a bit.

I'm reserving judgment on their road performance until they get one of their "good" goalies back. They're essentially playing with ECHLers, at the moment.

Suit yourself, but coming in like that about a team who are essentially on goalies 5 and 6 isn't cute. It isn't clever. It only serves to make you look like a pedantic, pessimist a-hole. Posting outrageous things for likes and internet points. Congrats, you're basically Howard Stern with a keyboard and none of the accolades.

Why are you so mad that I'm mad that teams play poorly in Las Vegas?

Not mad. A.) Your premise is flawed, based on the aforementioned goalie factor. B.) I occasionally find your unique blend of elitism and nihilism tiresome.

Occam's razor would indicate that the Knight's road contrast to home is owed to goalie issues, rather than hookers and blow seducing every team visiting Las Vegas.

I'm sorry, but I think Carey Price should be traded.

I think they gave him too much for too long, combined with his injury and his inability to steal games when the team needed it, even while under only moderate pressure.

A lot of Montreal fans have begun expressing frustrations with the overhype of Carey being the best goalie in the World, when he's making 10 mil for 8 years, but backup is playing better. Even at his peak, Price always needs a lot of help and always crumbles under pressure.

I wish Halak was still available. Shoulda never traded him. Fans miss his ability to steal games and playoff series all to himself.

While I see your point, I think he's just going through a slump. Every player has them and is entitled to them. He's not the best goalie in the world and never was. Is he a top 10 goalie? Yes. Other recent top Cup-winning top-10'ers (Fleury, Quick, Crawford) have all had numerous slumps. But they also had goal scorers.

We need scorers. Nothing more, nothing less.

I liked Halak too, but he's waaaaay too inconsistent. Good year, bad year, good year, bad year. No thanks.

Oh, and Bergevin should be fed to the wolves for a. somehow incompetently messing up that Radulov deal, and ESPECIALLY b. Letting Markov go. I don't care if he wanted 4 mill and 2 years. He was the best play maker on the team BY FAR. The entire dynamic is shattered now.

Thank you for mentioning Crawford alongside Price, Quick, and Fleury. Not enough people do. I think a lot of out-of-town fans still see the Blackhawks as the ultimate possession machine they were in 2010 where they could get away with Antti Niemi in net because the puck spent so much time in the other end. The Hawks are still pretty good at scoring, but Crawford has been a way bigger part of the team than anyone could have predicted (he had as good a shot at the Conn Smythe as Kane in '13 and had a strong bid in '15 but no one was beating Keith that year). But hey maybe one day Hockey Canada will rank him ahead of Mike Smith.

Allright, this I agree with. I'm glad to hear this cause it got discouraging how the media is insulting people's intelligence with all the overhype BS. I also understand that slumps happen because players are human and no one plays peak hockey every single night and no one steals every single game. Not even the great Jaroslav Halak. There are issues that go beyond just goaltending. It's a bunch of factors that piled up that lead to the Habs decline today.

Is Price a top 10 goalie? Yeah, I'll agree with this one too. But until he reaches a Cup Final, he's number 10, though.

Yes. Bergevin needs to be fired ASAP.

Carey Price can be okay, if his team is playing exceptionally well. That's his style. Me I still miss Jaro's ability to crank it up to 100 and stop everything like a madman. But even he needs a good team because no one can play light that every night and the Habs needed to give Halak some room to breathe at the time, so that he could save his best games for when it counts. I remember Jaro running out of gas versus Philly during that year. When Halak stops playing on that level, the team goes down with him.

Maybe it's a matter of preference. They each have their own style. For this point, we'll have to agree to disagree.

I liked Halak, definitely. I just think given the choice between the two, management made the right one at the time. They've also brought in very good backups in the meantime in Montoya, Condon, Budaj and Tokarski.

The Halak trade villiainized Pierre Gauthier though, just like the Subban trade villainized Marc Bergevin.

Matt Duchene has been traded to the Ottawa Senators in a three-team trade.

https://www.nhl.com/news/matt-duchene-traded-to-senators-by-avalanche/c-292657258

Kyle Turris was sent from the Sens to the Preds along with Andrew Hammond and some draft picks, while the Avs got a couple of prospects and a 2nd-rounder.

Avs trade Duchene to the Senators, Nashville wins the trade?

Maybe. Turris can be a high-end, versatile, two-way second line centre for the Predators, and he's capable of playing top line minutes when necessary. Best of luck to him in Nashville!

From an Ottawa perspective, the acquisition of Matt Duchene doesn't sting anywhere near as much as it was speculated that it might. The Senators gave up what they hope is a later first round pick to upgrade to a more dynamic top line centre, but they didn't have to part with any of the top prospects that it was rumoured Joe Sakic insisted on getting in return for Duchene.

The Senators didn't lose defenseman Cody Ceci or coveted defense prospect Thomas Chabot. They kept young centres Colin White and Logan Brown, the players whose progress, I think, made them reluctant to commit to Kyle Turris long-term. That feels like a win. Ottawa trades 2017 first round pick Shane Bowers, but the impressive development of fellow 2017 picks Alex Formenton and Drake Batherson lessens the impact of his loss. Getting Andrew Hammond's contract off the books is a plus for Ottawa, so it seems to balance the loss of the third round pick.

Overall, it looks like a deal that could help Ottawa immediately without hurting their future, so I like it.
