Florida State looks so bad I wonder if it's Taggert's coaching or Jimbo seeing a bad year and jumping ship before he could get fired?

They had to go out of their way to make up that ULM game last year just to get bowl eligible, so I think Jimbo saw bad times coming and a way out.

Little bit of column A, little bit of column B. They were clearly trending in the wrong direction under Jimbo, but they're too talented to be as bad as they are. I think the big question with Jimbo was how motivated he was at FSU towards the end. Willie Taggart has a career losing record and was pretty close to getting fired at USF before Quinton Flowers emerged and the OC changed their entire offense.

That's about right.

Plus, Francios tore his ACL in Week 1 last year and true FR James Blackman was basically unprepared to play. Charles Kelly's defense was progressively getting worse after the title season too. Those were his only years as a DC at the FBS level and he's now back to a position coach at Tennessee.

At the time, add in Jimbo's recent divorce and kid with a rare illness, he wanted out of town and start fresh somewhere else.

Their social media didn't have the best week either.

Quote

Some fans have posted some hurtful and terrible things directed at players in response to FSU football's social media posts on Twitter and Instagram and FSU Social/Digital Media Specialist Kelsey Miller went off on the fans on her personal Twitter account on Monday morning.

Miller is directly involved with the FSU football Instagram and Twitter accounts.

"Dear FSU fans, Good luck thinking this team even wants your support."

"The fans have been so bad to our athletes over 2 games that I guarantee you, the players would rather have the stands empty. Shoutout to the divide you guys have created."

"I’ve never seen anything so vile in 10 years of me working in multiple arenas in sports. This stuff is shocking to me, eye opening really."

Yes, she deleted her personal accounts.

Not the best of days for the Big Ten. Rutgers getting dismantled by Kansas may be the surprise of the day.

Another mediocre QB performance and yet LSU wins again. Joe Burrow isn't good.

Boise State's 23 point loss in Stillwater helped the AAC most, especially UCF as due to the UNC cancellation, they don't play a Power 5 team this season*. South Florida was helped at a lesser level.

*-unless they schedule one.

I'd say North Texas got more help since they beat a SEC West team and only play G5 teams the rest of the way.

I bet they could compete for a title in the Big South every once in a while.

A surprising amount of chaos today. It feels like most of the top teams are at a pretty equal level in the "Very competitive yet still a mile behind Alabama" category.

This is going to be a really fun football season until the CFB Playoffs. Then it's basically going to be Warriors vs It Doesn't Matter.

Right now I have the USC vs Texas game playing on FOX.

College Football games, especially from those big markets, are more exciting than many NFL games.

Shout out to Oregon State for losing to Nevada because they were COWARDS! They had like 20 seconds left and two timeouts and elected to kneel for the field goal and missed.

Gus Johnson makes a squirrel taking a dump (or any game) seem more exciting.

So Texas wins big vs USC and will still end up 7-5.
