2011-2012 NCAA Football Uniform Thread

Lights Out

I hate asymmetrical design elements in football. I hate gradients. That's pretty much all I can say about these.

I completely agree with you, throw in the ridiculous helmet design and these are a miss in my book. Since their Fiesta bowl overtime victory over Oklahoma like 5 years ago or whenever that was, Nike has put Boise's uniforms in free fall.

To be fair, the Fiesta Bowl jerseys weren't very good either. I like their new look better than that chunky, block number, drop shadow bleh that they wore the year they built Oklahoma.

Still, these aren't great either. And why is no one freaking out about the addition of grey to the Boise St uniforms? People blew their tops when Oregon added grey.

Yes, we get it. You poor Oregon fans are persecuted and everybody hates you and your way awesome uniforms.

As I recall, people bitched plenty about Boise State adding gray. I remember bitching about the gray facemask, the gray numbers, and the gray Pro Combat jersey. I also remember bitching about the asymmetrical design elements. You may not have noticed it since your attention was taken by somebody saying something vaguely negative about Oregon and/or Nike.

Personally, I never want to see the carbonite helmets again unless they change the O form volt yellow to green. The uniforms we wore against Oregon State looked like ballerina costumes. However BigDmo is right, only the last uniform didn't have a single school color in it (although the yellow on the helmet was very close). I personally think Oregon should ditch the gray pants and add yellow pants. For some reason they have removed them from the wardrobe.

The Civil War uniform. Having only green trim on the numbers doesn't count.

Technically it does. You can't just say "It had no school colors" and then when someone points out the area in which it does say "that doesn't count".

The BCS title game was closer to being a school color uniform than the Civil War uniform. At least you could see the neon from more than 10 feet away. Anyone up in the stands would not have been able to see that green.

the yellow on the helmet was technically not a school color. I never said it had visible school colors, I'm just saying that you can't say it didn't and be correct.

The BCS title game uniform was closer to being a school color uniform than the Civil War uniform. Neither are. It's just that the BCS title game uni was closer because it was clearer. The neon yellow was clearly visible, at least until it blinded everyone in the stadium and in the viewing audience, while the green was only visible close up.

Trim doesn't count. That rules out the Civil War uniform. The yellow in the BCS title game was not Oregon's yellow. That rules out the BCS title game uniform.

Neither.

trim is part of the uniform so it counts.

Not if it can't be seen from a distance. You could clearly see that the helmet was silver and black, that the jersey was white with lots of silver and that the pants were silver. Unless you were up close, the green trim was not visible. The Civil War uniform was not a school color uniform.

If it's on the uniform, it counts. This whole "you have to be able to see it from a distance" thing is stupid.

I prefer the term "excessively homeriffic to the point of near insanity Arizona fan," thank you very much.

The more I look at this uni, the more I get kinda disappointed that they didn't just turn this into a brand new set. The frogskin texture for the numbers was genius, and I think that it would've translated very nicely into a purple jersey, and even more so in a white one. Good grief, a purple-white-purple set with this type of uniform would've been incredible.

Oh well. :(

Jahgee, shut it.

spleen, from a distance those Civil War uniforms looked devoid of any scool colours. Further, there are enough components in Oregon's set that sets devoid if scool colours are possible. That's not the case with BSU's set. That's why people aren't attacking their use of grey like they are Oregon's.

I agree. I don't like Oregon using gray. I was just saying that it is incorrect to say that the civil war uniforms had no school colors in it.
