  1. In all honesty though, I like it. I think it's nice to pay homage to certain mascots, and this doesn't go too over the top. Let's be honest, we've seen worse gimmicks and ideas. The visor in the video is a nice touch, even if it is only for show. Brilliantly done here by WKU.
  2. It's hard to pick any single contender. You have traditional options and modern options, and the fact that many teams switch their look from week to week and rarely repeat the same setup makes it even harder nowadays. In general, though, I would say my top 5 would be: -Oregon 2020 Rose Bowl: Oregon has had plenty of good and bad options, but my absolute favorite was this one thanks to the setting, the lighting (especially during the daytime and sunset), the overall uniform, and the fact that it was a vast improvement over their first chrome helmet. I'm usually not a fan of straight chrome, but this was magical. -Oregon 2015 Rose Bowl: I guess there's just something about Oregon at the Rose Bowl that makes a special combination, and this one was good too. To be fair, their satin apple green shell is such a nice look, no matter the logo, but especially the simple O. -Nebraska: I'm definitely biased here, but the Huskers have one of the best traditional looks, between the colors, classic design, and the N logo, which might be a bit generic but offers up some nice nostalgia, and works better than the block N. Honorable mention for the gray facemask they pulled out against Oklahoma last year, wouldn't go wrong with this as a full-time look (would help them distinguish themselves from Big Ten rival Wisconsin). -Ohio State: Traditional design at its finest. There's a reason that this design has been converted into a standard piece of the Ohio State brand athletics-wide. Plus, the buckeye merit decals are one of the most iconic uniform quirks in sports. -Notre Dame: Plain helmets are usually so boring, but the Irish works for a reason: that beautiful gilded gold paint. Not quite as flashy as chrome, but it has just the right amount of shine to be eye-catching and not obnoxious. Honorable mention to the LSU color-shift helmet they wore a couple of years back. Probably one of the coolest helmets for a one-off special uniform I've seen.
  3. Sounds like a blast! I miss having competitions on here more often.
  4. I think the players who wore white socks with it made it bearable. It wouldn't be such a bad look if they just had a uniform set that was more conducive to better looking mix-and-match combos. With the win, I wouldn't be surprised if they pull a Jets/Eagles and just start wearing them more. Definitely not the last we have seen of this combo and/or the navy pants in the standard rotation.
  5. One of the players said it was their decision, which makes sense for why it’s happening. Makes me scared that we will also get the navy pants with orange jerseys at some point before the year is out.
  6. True, but they’ve never had blue pants before the mid-90s either. First time in blue/orange.
  7. Usually I wouldn’t hate white over navy. However, this isn’t the set to do it with. They are going to look as bad as they are playing this season. This just hurts my soul as a Broncos fan. First time ever a white jersey will be paired with something other than white or orange pants while having this color scheme.
  8. I think Tennessee has been pretty on par with switching up their look this year, not too many gimmicks, and even when there was one, it looked dang good. I guess Tennessee orange is the key to everything.
  9. I would be lying if I didn't say the red accents look alright on the all-navy look in minimal doses, but for a team that has 6 total colors on the uniform (navy, light blue, white, red, light gray, dark gray), and red not being that prominent of one, they need to condense their color range a bit for the red to look in place. Also, light blue accomplishes the same thing as red in brightening up the look a bit, but it doesn't detract from the rest of the uniform. Plus, there is already a navy and red heavy team in the same division in the Texans. We don't need two of them, hence why I prefer light blue as an accent color here.
  10. If there are any throwback uniforms the Dolphins need to bring back full-time, I'd much rather have these. They just feel more vibrant and lively.
  11. I can usually get past whatever crazy alternates Oregon comes up with, for the most part they are put together well. Not today. The mix between hot pink and volt is just incredibly eye-burning and nauseating. Definitely a swing and a miss here. Would have preferred with them going with just hot pink numbers/wings and either silver or white accents.
  12. Ah, my bad then. Couldn't find much information about that part of the inspiration.
  13. Some general thoughts of mine from the release: -The Avalanche look is great in a vacuum, but I can't help but feel a bit jaded from all of the over-enthusiastic Colorado imagery we've been getting across all of our teams over the past year. I would have loved to see this uniform, but with the original logos and the steel/slate blue color. The Avs have only used it as the base color for a jersey once, and I think it would have been just as popular a look as what they went with. -Detroit is a pleasant surprise. I thought they would go for something more restrained like they did last time, so it's great to see a bit of a step outside their shell. -The Panthers may have won this release. They fulfilled the theme very well, and they added enough of a SoFlo flair with the teal/blue color that I could easily see this being worn by Florida people who aren't necessarily hockey fans. -I wish the Canadiens added some more red. The lack of the color dullens the look IMO. -Flyers and Cooperalls. Even if they are only for pregame, I love it. Fully embracing the theme. -I am very confused by Seattle's look. Surprised they didn't take on a specific team, and the result is trying too hard to be vintage with a modern brand. Vegas on the other hand, played their role nicely. The glow-in-the-dark elements are a nice Vegas touch without being too garish. I like the release overall this year. I think most teams have a better hold of the Reverse Retro idea this team round. It's a shame this might be the last time we see this, given Adidas won't be making uniforms for the NHL much longer, this is one of the better league-wide special uniform initiatives we've seen over the past decade or so.
  14. I think that Rams helmet is one of the best they've ever worn, and one of the best in the league currently. The finish is spectacular, and the ram horn decal is solid. I think it keeps the simplicity of what they previously wore, but it gives the look a bit more character since the horn is one of the most copied decals in American football and allows the Rams to sort of "reclaim" it a bit.
  15. That's both times that the Islanders have had a good chance to make a solid Reverse Retro, and they went the same route both times: draining the character out of the look and making it navy. This could have been one of the best with the RR theme, and they actually went through more work draining it of life than just flipping the main color to orange or teal.
  16. One thing I’ve noticed is that the Avs seemed to have dropped helmet ads this season. Kudos to them, no jersey ads either. Seems like a KSE-owned trend; the Nuggets haven’t gone for court ads either, unlike much of the NBA.
  17. If it wasn’t for Purdue going black-heavy with the helmets/pants, it would be a much harder game to watch. That Nike “gold” is wayyy too pale to be a home color.
  18. Oklahoma shouldn't be wearing anthracite. It really doesn't make any sense, Unity theme or otherwise, except that it's a "cool" color. Also, are those numbers reflective? I don't recall Nike ever doing that before at this scale, at least outside of Oregon and TCU. Looks worse than how Adidas does it IMO. Just comes off as tacky. I guess it was an attempt to trying and circumnavigate the whole visibility issue it really doesn't help much.
  19. Glad to see the Bengals are looking good on Thursday Night Football toni... Oh wait that's the Bears. Never mind. That is defintely NOT their look.
  20. FIU with "Vice City" decals and accessories. Seems kinda redundant to not follow through on the whole idea, but I'm not surprised it happened the way it did with such a poorly supported program. The Vice theme has reached the end of its life cycle anyway.
  21. If these are gonna end up replacing the Rough Rider uniforms, then it's a major downgrade. The anthracite really doesn't work for them, and they could use more white on the jersey, the crimson numbers are going to be hard to read, even with the white outlines.
  22. With all respect, I would disagree. It's cool on paper, but in practice it looks like a 12-year-old child picked the 2 "coolest" looking uniforms on NHL 23, save for the Vegas chrome domes, and went to town. But whatever floats your boat, I guess. I just think it's 2 teams trying too hard to be cool.
  23. For real though, Thursday Night Football has been on for years at this point and it still has a reputation for terrible games and short weeks that leave extra risk for players being hurt, which has been evident the past 2 weeks. There is no reason (outside of Amazon's money) for TNF to continue. It needs to end. Also, being a Broncos fan, I never expected it to get this bad. Between the new head coach, Wilson having the worst year he's ever had, and the mounting injuries, it's beginning to look like this franchise is cursed. We also need to look at our training staff. Loren Landow has overseen us for a number of years and under his watch we've had many major injuries over the course of each season he has been in charge, including Williamson, Gregory, Patrick, and now likely Bolles this year. That can't be a coincidence, and it certainly isn't helping us at all.
  24. I'm assuming it's based off of this (early 1880s), just with added numbers:
