  1. The way that the *Commanders* seem to be doing it makes me inclined to agree with you in this case. The extra lines above and below the text is going to make this look super cheap. However, to share what I believe to be a VERY unpopular opinion, I do like how the Jets did it, without the extra bells and whistles, as their wordmark looks nice on the front of the jersey. I'll be honest, if it wasn't going to be Warriors or Wolves, Commanders isn't a bad choice. Everything else just came off as super gimmicky or clunky. I am a but underwhelmed with the branding, as I think they just took the WFT branding and slightly tweaked it, given the similarities between the WFT W and the Commanders W. I would have liked to see a bit more imagination, maybe a soldier secondary. The patch-style logo is cool, but also screams overthought to me.
  2. This whole uniform set reminds me of what the Rams did, and not in a good way. Is this going to be a new trend where the home and road uniforms have disconnected designs, perhaps as a way to entice fans to spend more on jerseys in a league where they only change every 5 years? I like the home set, it features some nice ideas (satin burgundy helmet, modern font, sleeve stripes). It reminds me of the concept I put together for them a while ago: As for the (what seems to be) the road uniform, just yikes. There is already too much black in the NFL, the unnecessary addition of it here just saddens the whole set. I'll reserve my full reaction until we see the full product, but, like many of you, I'm not hopeful.
  3. The fact that these are not the set being used for the Olympics is crazy. I would update it with a shade of navy though, to add a bit more distinctiveness because, as others have said, it does look similar to the Rangers.
  4. Nebraska has some new alternates this season and... woof. I don't like the Huskers in black, but I much prefer it to GFGS. Pair that with the dizzying design/pattern combo and this is just a really bad uniform all the way around. It just screams middle school AAU team. At least they didn't add a chest logo; that iconic Huskers script saves it... not much though. I much prefer the black alternate they wore last year. While still not great, it is at least a bit easier to look at. Also, while scrolling for images, I also found this killer jersey with a beautiful Nebraska script I have never seen before. We need some more merchandise with this!
  5. I guess that's due to the background that sports have in each country. In the USA, sports are much more of a commercial/entertainment entity, while European clubs often have older roots and are more closely tied to the geography/community/social class they were founded around. Change is a part of American sports, tradition is (largely) more prevalent in European/UK sports. I could be wrong, but that is at least how I interpret it.
  6. A number of nitpicks for me here: -The general lack of red is questionable. The whole set comes off as super dark without it, and, well, it's the USA, red is part of the identity. -The top/bottom stripes on the chest are both made of lighter or darker shades of blue or red. The darker shade of blue on that top stripe is invisible, and so the whole chest stripe feels unbalanced (esp. on the navy set). -The navy and royal blue colors are not different enough for each to warrant their own jersey. That royal blue set screams Nike just wanting to make a quick buck. I would honestly buy the idea of it being a third jersey more if the stripes were red, not navy. In general, I don't hate the idea, but the execution is crap. The whole set needs better color balance and practicality (for lack of a better word). I dislike Canada's set as well. Way too much black for its own good. At least we now know where all the red from the new "Jersey" Devils uniform is.
  7. UCF unveiled a new "Knightro" logo, now forward facing. I think it is an improvement over the old one, definitely a good "modernization" so to speak. Looks like they carried over some elements as well (plume on top, general shape/resemblance). Only nitpick is that the divide/black space between the visor and mask parts of the helmet needs to be thinned out a bit, too much negative space there. Previous knight for comparison: It's part of a slight* brand update. That Knights script is fantastic, although I think its been used already (football helmets if I remember correctly):
  8. Would have been much better with white socks I think. It was an interesting matchup with this first time combo and the Broncos' color rush.
  9. Miami (FL) Women's basketball has some wild uniforms. Did someone order a re-run of the 90's?
  10. Am I the only one that doesn't think the Colts look right in blue facemasks? I Don't know if I just don't feel like they work with the more traditional aesthetic of the uniform or what, but I think gray is perfect for them. If we want to talk about a team with a white helmet that could (and should) pull a blue facemask off, let's talk about the Bills. They wore that look from the late 70's through the mid 80's, and it worked much better with them than the Colts.
  11. Kudos to the NBA/Nike keeping with the mixtape theme with the warmups. Some awesome looks have come out of it so far, some of them (almost) feeling straight out of the past.
  12. This. This is the issue I wish Nike would get. "City" editions are only great so long as you have new ideas to continue making them. It's painfully obvious only 4-5 years in that they are already running out of ideas, Mixtape editions or not. Kudos for Utah keeping their original set around for as long as it did.
  13. I think the spirit of the Mash-up style is admirable, but holy cow some of these force way too much into a uniform. Fonts, colors, designs, it is all over the place, and only a few (Clippers, Nets, Kings, Pelicans, Wizards, Grizzlies off the top of my head) effectively use the idea. The rest try to shoehorn way too many details into a uniform for the sake of it. It's not quite as bad as previous years of city editions, but a lot of these are just trying way too hard. IMO, Clippers, Kings, and Grizzlies are the best by a country mile. Also, that Nuggets set really shows you unorthodox their uniform history has been. Diamonds, rainbows, and everything in between.
  14. Maybe Reds? A reference to the iconic color they stereotypically come in? May not work with a maroon/pink color scheme.
  15. NFL Instagram with an interesting graphic... teal outlines on the Jaguar's black jerseys. I'm sure it's more of a case of bad photoshop than anything else though. To my knowledge, Trevor Lawrence has not yet worn the Jags' black jerseys.
  16. At this point the Jazz have pretty much used every color known to man in one way or another... they were going to work their way around to black and white at some point. Still gonna look way too similar to Brooklyn. I would love either a Red Rock theme or a Purple/Light Blue color scheme more if they need to change. Maybe even a kelly green/yellow they did for the Earned edition this year.
  17. Black gear, reflecting on it now, was fairly outdated, but the shade of blue the Avs have isn't the best to use for uniform elements, as its fairly bright, and hard to replicate accurately. I have always thought that burgundy breezers/helmet would have worked much better. Heck, it looks fantastic on their reverse retros! And in all honesty, the home uniform doesn't necessarily look bad with the extra blue, but as we seem to all agree on, that uniform isn't the issue.
  18. I might be jumping the gun here, but the Cornhusker's white Blackshirts uniform they were supposed to wear at Wisconsin for Halloween last year have not resurfaced. One could expect them to maybe pull them out against Michigan/Ohio State, but at this point I think they've moved on. They wore the black pants for this set with their Black version of the jerseys against Illinois last year, and they've already worn their annual alternate against Buffalo. I haven't seen them being sold in the bookstore recently (they had a bit of stock left a few months ago) and they are not listed on the bookstore's website. They are being sold through the official Huskers online store, but that's all I've seen. Kind of weird seeing them unveiled and then never worn. Haven't seen it much on the college level, if at all.
  19. I think the single most important thing they could do to be even better looking is replace the yellow facemask with powder blue. Currently, their home/road looks (especially the white jersey) are a bit yellow heavy.
  20. Actually, that design wasn't exclusive to the military gear that year. A lot of the sideline gear used that bar design as well, outside of military appreciation. It was even used by a number of Nike's college teams
  21. Is it possible that the Hamburg Sea Devils gave you the idea for that first option? Honestly I think that is a good thing; that team had a pretty solid thing going branding-wise.
  22. Looks like a generic black t-shirt with a Nike logo and an off-brand font.
  23. Ok, I do like Arizona's uniforms as in improvement over the overdesigned sets they have had previously, but something, to me, does not feel right. To start, I've never been a big fan of readopting straight-up throwback sets without a new/more modern element to update the look. Adding a more unique number font or a navy helmet would help with this. Secondly, I think there needs to be more color in the look. Maybe a navy helmet and red jersey option, to help distance themselves from other Navy/White heavy teams like Penn State and Rice. Lastly, something about this set comes off as cheap to me, although I don't know what. I'm not saying that it's not an upgrade, but I don't think I'm into it as much as other people are. They aren't really a home run, and they don't offer much improvement on the old Desert Swarm set. And to be frank, I don't think that the old set was completely unsalvageable. The White jersey in particular shows how that modern design, if given some more balanced colors on the Navy/Red options, could have been one of the best uniforms in Division 1. Just drop some of the white dots and tweak the font a bit and boom. And, I've also added in a sort of marriage of the two styles as a sort of shameless plug from a project I have/had been working on, but never released, to sort of illustrate my point. Who knows, maybe they just need some time to grow on me. I guess we will see.
  24. Having a gradient that far down on the jersey may be a problem, seeing as the jerseys are either tucked in or tailored around the waist. It would get lost pretty easily. If you want to keep the gradient, I would suggest moving it up a bit to become more visible.
