  1. Indiana just needs to pull the trigger on making their throwback uniforms the primary set already. They have both home and road versions and currently wear a slightly different version of the helmet full-time. The black gives them more character compared to other similar teams (Oklahoma, Arkansas, etc.) On the topic of the Hoosiers, I can confirm that their opponents tonight, Nebraska, are going back to striped pants full time which, IMO, is the superior look.
  2. Probably a loose fit but a new "updated" mascot may be on the way for Nebraska. Would imagine it might encompass some new logos as well. As someone who think we live in the past a bit too much... eh I'll wait to see what it looks like. I do know there is a strong fondness for the old Herbie here.
  3. Hummel just confirmed this. I don't ever recall this happening before, although a tournament like this hasn't happened before either. What has confused me though is that I though FIFA regulations around logos/crests wouldn't allow this to happen. I'm wrong, of course, because they have already worn the shirts, but for an organization that insisted striped teams go with white shorts in 2014, and is known for their high level of micromanaging uniform situations, this seems like something they wouldn't let slide.
  4. Wow they really, REALLY don't want to touch the burgundy jerseys. Kinda unfortunate that these will get action before what is supposed to be their primary uniform. On the other hand, that Giants/Bears matchup should be really good. Can't go wrong with two pure classics.
  5. Ok, I'm not usually a big fan of over-dramatic/produced/themed reveal videos/photos for a weekly uniform unveiling, but Duke football showcasing Cameron Indoor Stadium is actually kinda cool. I don't like the plain white helmet though. Really needs the stripe back.
  6. XFL already had rights to both the Guardians from 2020, before Cleveland even started mentioning a change. Probably just recycling something they had easy rights for. Kinda disappointing across the board, but let's see what changes they may make. Might have been a decoy, but I doubt it. Saving money by using previous rights/names isn't a new concept (i.e. new USFL). Glad Wildcats was dropped too, was definitely the weakest/least imaginative of the bunch, and it really showed in the overall brand. On the other hand, San Antonio Brahmas is a badass name and nice nod to Dwayne Johnson. Really excited to see what that will look like. Should lend itself very well to a Texas team too, although there is a current hockey team in the state that goes by the name of Lone Star Brahmas.
  7. Something to do with Mardi Gras I think. Mobile claims to be the home of the first (unofficial) Mardi Gras, so just a nod to the city culture.
  8. Nebraska is getting new uniforms this year, and oh boy are they a major improvement. Just a few takeaways: -Updated to newest Adidas template. -No more black accents/outlines/etc. -Classic/simple design. Love that they didn't overthink it. -Only noticeable difference between men/women so far is on the home uniforms: the women's uniforms do not feature the shorts trim pattern that the men have. Would expect that to be the case on the roads as well. -Women are they only ones that have unveiled the away uniforms, and they might be some of the best basketball uniforms I've ever seen, at any level or any gender. That Nebraska script is criminally underused, and the color balance is just perfect. I'm hoping the men also use the script, it would be a missed opportunity if they didn't.
  9. They've pulled out silver on black for the spring game, and I don't think it's a horrible look, but it is not as good as the standard home/away sets, and the all-black is certainly much better from an alternate standpoint.
  10. Denver has just unveiled their new Statement uniforms. As leaks suggested, it remains royal blue, but focuses more on yellow and red. Similar to previous Statement in theming, but a bit more colorful and distinct. I honestly think it's good, gives off Colorado/Denver flag vibes.
  11. Hate to break it to you, but chrome domes will remain, but for only three games.
  12. Just for the Reverse Retros I think. Vintage logo, vintage application. Also, Golden Knights are confirmed to be going gold at home this season. Not a fan as I think they are too gaudy to be a primary home set, but I wouldn't expect anything less from a Las Vegas team. Grays sticking around, but as an alternate. Change to the pants situation as well.
  13. Huskers going with striped pants for the 2nd straight week. I had seen the home version of what they wore vs Oklahoma (striped pants, gray facemask) at the facility this week. I would imagine that would be the route today. Should be a good looking game. Edit: Kickers just trotted put in red facemasks. Seems like a new standard uniform policy after the departure of Frost. Plain pants were his preference.
  14. One part of me sees the difficulty, especially with the recent trends of the supply chain and the short turnaround. However, I still think it's unfair for a country that is making their first World Cup in 36 years. You could still go for a catalogue template, but dress it up with a special graphic, like many European club and national teams do, or just do some new templates other than the "fingerprint". Sure, it isn't a "premium" thing, but at least it feels special. And I guarantee you that a delay in a commercial release wouldn't be a problem for the fans, they would still gobble it up. The fact that they didn't get anything new is just an absolute embarrassment on the part of Nike, "production cycles" be damned.
  15. Those pants aren't gold, they're "pearl champaign" or "aged linen" or whatever silly name Nike gives their colors these days. It's unfortunate because this shade of gold just doesn't look gold. It doesn't need a metallic sheen to be gold either, they just need to darken it a bit.
  16. Glad they ditched the pinstripe panels and switched back to full pinstripes. Although I think the star pattern in the side panels looks a bit cheesy. What is the reason for the recent trend in the NBA for both the mismatched wordmark/number coloring AND color-on-color numbers? Fixing those two issues would make these uniforms so much better. In other news, the Hornets unveiled a much improved statement look. No more CHA, and some cool new hexagon accents.
  17. Nike seems to be all over the place with designs this cycle. Some are awesome, others should go straight in the trash. Makes what they designed for the USA look like some of the worse they've designed yet. Poland, Saudi Arabia, Qatar (minus centered crest), and Australia are the strongest of the looks IMO.
  18. The Seahawks wearing Action Green tonight reminds me that I don't hate the color, it's just better if it's used marginally as an accent color. Dressing a team head to toe in it is just straight-up nauseating.
  19. Feeling in Lincoln after last night was the most muted I've seen, and a general feeling of that game being the lowest point in a while, if not outright program history. I don't things would have gotten better with Frost at the helm. I wouldn't doubt that some booster but up a large sum to see him go sooner, and I'll be honest, I do think some personal pride on the part of the Husker brand contributed to the sooner firing as well. I am thoroughly convinced that we are still literal years away from bowl contention, no matter who we hire. At least next week, we may see a team who have nothing left but to fight for pride and put up a good game against Oklahoma. I'll be honest, I want to see Mickey Joseph wrangle a miracle run out of this situation. We need something to feel good about. Other than that, we might be lucky to salvage a couple more wins with how bad the defense has been.
  20. Nebraska is wearing their 83’ throwback vs GA Southern, and I have to give them a nod for effort in replication. Jerseys have NNOB, which was the case for the 83’ uniforms as well.
  21. Another random observation: Vanderbilt's jerseys still have the old star logo on the collars, despite the rebrand. Very interesting detail.
  22. Don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but Missouri looks like they've tweaked their white jerseys this season. Last year they only had the number on the front. This year, it looks like they added "Mizzou". Very weird change, given the home jerseys looks to have stayed the same, and a huge downgrade IMO.
  23. All this ICE verbiage makes me want to go out and burn all the all-white uniforms I see. It was niche a couple of times, but the constant use of it is annoying and obnoxious.
  24. A good example of how to simplify and enhance a brand without draining it of all its character. That incredible double-green color scheme should help them stand out from other manufacturers.
  25. You know what the best thing about a place like this is? You're entitled to your opinion. Everyone is. Uniforms are like art or fashion; everyone has their taste and there's no right or wrong answer. The best part about that is I don't have to go around bashing everyone and telling them that they are wrong. I can engage in a discussion with them, but I don't have to be rude about it. If you think these new uniforms are great, then great! I, however, fit into the group that doesn't like them as much. I think that black is overused in the NBA, the "DET" wordmark tries too hard to be cool, the black on black letters/numbers have never been a great combo, and the uniform as a whole reminds me uniforms that have already been worn in the NBA, mainly the 76ers 2020-21 City edition. It may not have the same design, but the overall layout and aesthetic are just too similar for me, and for what it's worth, the Sixers pulled it off better too. For a franchise that have a lot of better inspiration and colors to draw from, this is just trying too hard to be cool. At least the chrome had some simplicity and sense, and I didn't hate it.
