  1. Exactly my thoughts. This is the biggest uniform downgrade from XFL2020 in my book; the previous iteration was a gorgeous uniform that perfectly utilized its color scheme with some very tasteful striping and an awesome helmet. Super sad to see how watered down this newer set is. All the personality of the previous set got completely sucked out in favor of a boring and lazily-made look.
  2. Colors are free to be trademarked, as stupid as it is. The Home Depot's shade of orange, Tiffany blue, UPS brown, and T-Mobile magenta are all trademarked. I don't believe Luv Ya Blue falls under that category, and it's likely far too late to do anything about it now. At this point, with the Titans using it so sparingly, it's just another shade of powder blue now. I'm sure the Houston rebrand would be well within their rights to use it, though I'd prefer they forge their own path in their rebrand rather than hearkening back to a past that isn't legally their own. I love the red helmets and would absolutely be in favor of a red-heavy rebrand. No need to change the logo in my book at all; it's one of the best in any sport. They really only need a slight enhancement of what they have to be great, but if they were to go more outlandish with their rebrand, I'd be totally down for something like this: (shameless plug time once again)
  3. While they are quite similar, there are only so many ways to draw a simplistic queen's crown. This logo seems to have been in use for at least almost a decade according to a quick google search, so if it's been acceptable for this long, it shouldn't be a copyright or trademark problem. Plus, since the original crown mark for Charlotte was designed for the city flag, it automatically falls under public domain like any other flag would.
  4. It'd be even funnier if he retired, came out of retirement, signed with the Jets, retired again, signed with the Vikings, threw a game losing interception in the NFC championship, retired for good after the following season, and then got caught misattributing charity funds in a horrible scandal over a decade later.
  5. They had a super deep front seven, a ballhawking secondary, a dominant offensive line, a slew of weapons at wideout, a future hall of fame quarterback (deserves it at least, in my opinion) leading the offense, a receiver putting up one of the greatest receiving seasons of all time, and Aaron Donald wreaking havoc on opposing offensive linemen. The Bills have Josh Allen and his receiving core, plus some playmakers in the front seven. Everything else could use some improvement before the Bills win a ring. They aren't far off, but they're not quite at the same level. The 2021 Rams may not have had a great running game, but they had literally everything else.
  6. Definitely agree that if sponsors are going to be slapped onto football uniforms in the future, I'd much prefer it on the helmet than on the jersey. That placement is about as unintrusive as you can get. Still hope to never see ads in the NFL (or any other football league, for that matter), but if that ends up being the case, I could live with them on the backs of helmets. Also, that helmet is a thing of beauty. Such a shame the newest iteration of the XFL messed with it.
  7. That'd be Mark Crosby, aka @mcrosby. Wouldn't be too apposed to this colorway, though I'd prefer if the uniforms leaned a bit more towards either what they have now or a simple Texas flag theme.
  8. As a Pats fan, I'd be overjoyed to get O'Brien back. He was at least partially responsible for the best offensive stretch in team history from 2007-2011, and he'd do a great job of utilizing our weapons at receiver and tight end. They were such a frustrating team to watch on offense last year. They had players that would repeatedly show flashes of greatness (DeVante Parker, Kendrick Bourne, Rhamondre, Jakobi Meyers, Hunter Henry, etc), but we simply didn't do anything with them. Mac improved so much over the course of the year in his decision making and proved (at least, in my initially skeptical eyes) that the offensive woes weren't his fault. It was primarily horrible play calling, poor team discipline, and unfortunate mistakes getting in the way of wins, such as the losses to the Raiders, Packers, and Bengals. If the Pats can get O'Brien back, and get Judge back where he belongs on Special Teams (another aspect of the team that was severely lacking), that alone would likely be enough to get back in the playoffs, even if they're outmatched talent wise. Hopefully O'Brien can try and replicate the two-TE packages that helped the Pats offense cruise back when Gronk and Hernandez were tearing it up, it'd help the run game immensely and give Mac some more room to run the play-action, where he's been most effective. I'm hoping they load up on the offensive line and secondary in free agency and the draft, perhaps add a true number one receiver. That'd be the ideal offseason. Wouldn't be enough to expect anything more than a Wild Card loss, but after last season's rollercoaster, I'd be happy just to make the playoffs again. I get that I'm spoiled by growing up with Brady and all that, but I'm always gonna pull for this team to be better. Probably wishful thinking though, Belichick hasn't had the greatest track record of addressing obvious needs at certain positions, but he's also had an amazing track record of finding undercooked gems in the O-line and secondary, so anything goes.
  9. Talanoa Hufanga is such an amazing player. Haven't seen anyone with his impressive instincts since Polamalu. The similarities are uncanny, even if you factor in that Polamalu is mentoring him. Not just anyone can time snap counts like they do. Looks like he'll be a game wrecker for years to come. Easily one of my favorite defensive players to watch.
  10. I'm personally an advocate for XFL-style kickoffs, makes them as close to a punt as possible whilst still allowing for long kicks and returns. Not perfect by any means, but probably my favorite change that still feels like a kickoff greatly reducing their injury risk. I wouldn't want to see them go entirely, but if they were to go, I'd be completely down for the Schiano proposal. As goofy and perhaps unbalanced as it is, I love the idea of a kickoff through the uprights being worth 2 points. Makes comebacks easier if you're down 9 or 10, reduces the number of runbacks, - and injuries, by extension - and helps give kickers more opportunities to flex their skills. Plus, it's just plain fun. Perfect idea for a spring league, would love to see how it fares in an actual game. Making one would be rare, no doubt, (it's a 75 yard attempt from the 35) but it'd add another layer of strategy to the most mundane and dangerous play in football. As for other rule changes, one sticks out to me. Forward progress should be a reviewable play. Far too many fumbles are called back or allowed to stand based on a subjective whistle or lack thereof. Teams should be allowed to challenge an iffy ruling that doesn't go their way, in almost every scenario. Even some penalties, if they occur on key plays, like on 4th down within 2:00 minutes of each half, contentious penalties should be reviewed in the booth the same way turnovers or scoring plays are. The league should have a ref in the booth in direct contact with New York overseeing how rulings and penalties are dished out.
  11. Way back in the day when there was room, I'd definitely agree with you. Those are some gorgeous looks. It's inverse of today's problem; back then there's almost too much room to fit elements, and going bare-shoulder works far better than having a huge gap between numbers and stripes. Definitely a shame that traditional sleeves are no longer viable, but what we've got now isn't too bad. I'm mostly saying I wish teams made the switch earlier in the 2000s, rather than waiting until Nike took control. It was a long overdue change that served as an obvious solution. Cuts were too small for years before teams did anything about it, and teams like the chiefs were stuck in a weird limbo period for a bit.
  12. I've said it before, but I'm not a fan of cuff detailing and numbers being squeezed into the sleeve area and I vastly prefer how the Bears and Chiefs look today. Slapping them both on the shoulder doesn't give either element room to breathe, and when there's plenty of space on the shoulders, it feels silly to not use it. The Chiefs' switch from cuff to sleeve striping in 2012 was the only uniform tweak they've ever needed, and it turned their set - at least in my opinion - from a solid yet forgettable classic set to a top 5 look that fits perfectly in today's NFL. Cuff detail going away due to the space shrinking is a bit disappointing, as it looks great when done well (see Washington), but I'm all in favor of separating TV numbers and stripes, especially with today's templates being even smaller than these examples.
  13. The name was switched to Charlotte months ago per @CDCLT's suggestion, already way ahead of you haha
  14. It's definitely a great uniform, but it's there's just too much going on for it to work well for San Francisco in my book. The current set is absolutely stunning and an easy top-3 look in the league. They should stick with their classic aesthetic like they have for decades, but the early-2000s set certainly wasn't a bad look. Great use of that era's trends without being too over the top.
  15. Eastern Carolina is a decidedly purple team with no religious affiliations I'm aware of, they were literally the first school that came to mind after TCU. Again though, it does appear that most schools with a CU, religious or otherwise, tend to wear purple, which is quite interesting.
  16. God, every single concept in both this project and your California league is absolutely stunning. You've constantly put out some gorgeous crests and kits and the level of local detail in each one is astounding. It's enviable how you manage to work in the most obscure local symbols and industries into these concepts. Hillsboro, Salem, and Marion are downright awe-inspiring. Incredible series so far, cannot wait for more in the future.
  17. I happened to get cursed by the creativity goblin this weekend and slapped together another logo update, plus there were a few small uniform tweaks that I had backlogged, so I thought I’d share them just for kicks and giggles. Toronto gets the lone logo update - a modified badge, with a stronger, more accurate anchor, a thicker rope pattern, and adjusted spacing on the text. The helmet logo is now single-color blue instead of silver on the blue background of the badge. The uniforms previously had UCLA-style stripes, but now instead go for a more unique 4-line stripe on the shoulders. Las Vegas gets a unified striping pattern with a subtle card suit pattern across the uniform set, a chest word mark inspired by the Fabulous Las Vegas sign, and striping detail on the collars. In case it's hard to see, here's a close up of the chest area. Milwaukee, one of two teams in the league with a non-white away jersey, now has two distinct stripes for black and cream bases. Felt like a good solution that keeps the colors balanced without bleeding together too much. Black touching the blue is a bit too harsh. New York gets brightened shades of blue and orange and now features the NY monogram on the collar and pants. I feel like there might not be enough white on the home jersey, but I don’t want to part with the striping consistency of the helmet and pants. I’ve tried making the center stripe white, but it throws off the vibe I’m going for. Not too much of an issue, but it’s a little bit frustrating. St. Louis gets an updated number font and tweaked shoulder detail, now using a badge logo on the shoulders instead of an arrow sticking out of the shoulder cap. Something about a big arrow on a football jersey felt a bit cartoonish to me. Another close up of the shoulder cap, just in case. Ok, now that’s all I have for a while. Hopefully I’ll be able to squeeze out some new concepts by the end of the semester, but I can’t count on it. Gonna be a busy couple of months for me. Made in Affinity Designer. C&C appreciated.
  18. Completely forgot about this combo, that's another one that works quite well. I miss this set so much in hindsight, never appreciated it nearly enough until after it was long gone. The white/white/powder/navy combo is such a gorgeous uniform. Speaking of which... The old Titans set is a prime example. The powder pants look on the away is miles better than its mono-white counterpart. Not even a contest.
  19. I held this opinion for years, even including the Chargers' older sets with gold pants and a white helmet, but I don't mind it at all with the Chargers' new set. Even Wyoming, the only other team that looks alright going white/dark/medium, would look better in my book if they stuck with a yellow helmet. In general, I staunchly agree with this rule. In the case of the Chargers, it's the exception. Something about the simplicity, color scheme, and color balance looks perfect. Just as good as their white/blue/white combo in my book, depending on who they wear it against.
  20. Definitely agree, though I think I'd still prefer if the Jaguars wore either B/T/B/T or B/B/T/B, either combo would have great contrast against the Chargers' bright set, especially if they wore yellow pants as they should. The Chargers should always be wearing gold pants when their opponent wears white pants. The Jaguars could almost do without white pants at all; they really only work with the teal jersey and contrasting socks.
  21. I did not actually, I took it straight from google images whilst searching for Charlotte Motor Speedway. Don't pay nearly enough attention to racing to be able to tell. Never would've known unless you pointed it out haha As discussed in several posts on the previous page, it's gonna be Grizzlies.
  22. I didn't notice the other stolen logos until others pointed them out, so yeah this place is definitely worthy of a lawsuit. I don't think Cleveland of all teams has much of a case here though considering it doesn't quite look enough like their old block C to be confused. The other teams who got their logos blatantly stolen, on the other hand, can rightfully sue this place into oblivion. Cleveland has the least iconic logo of this bunch, and it's the only one that's been altered. I don't think altering a block C should warrant a copyright lawsuit due to its simplicity, but considering the other logos that got blatantly reused, I'll let it slide.
  23. Was already planning on posting soon, excellent timing. I haven't done that much since the beginning of the school year, assignments ate up a lot of my free time and I was stuck in a creative funk for the latter half of the semester. I've mostly just been goofing around with template ideas, other projects, and trying to flesh out the league's history, rules, and traditions. I've only recently worked on logo concepts that are still in progress, but I thought I'd share them along with a few small uniform updates for some teams. I also made a new flat template, heavily inspired by @raysox's Danger brand series. It's basically just the Nike Vapor Untouchable template with my own logo slapped on it and added seams near the shoulders. My old template served me quite well, lasting almost two years longer than any other template I've made, but it was time for a change towards something a tad more realistic. Boston Mariners It seems like I grow unhappy with Boston every six months. This time around, I found myself unimpressed with their uniform set and didn't feel like the lighthouse logo captured the nautical vibe I was going for, so I leaned in favor of a boat logo for them. I also brightened the color scheme a bit and updated the uniforms, going for a shoulder yoke stripe that I toyed with for Boston years ago. It felt right to bring it back in this color scheme. I kept the throwback uniform, but swapped it to an away set to make room for a navy alternate. The logo could probably still use some cleaning up on the spacing, but this is the first logo I've made in months that I'm legitimately happy with. Gonna explore some alternate logos and supplementary branding with a more ocean-y vibe in the future. Jacksonville Stingrays Jacksonville gets a name change, first and foremost. Cyclones was generic enough that it felt difficult to come up with a logo I liked, so I recycled the Stingrays name from my old Mexico team, though this time with a darker and stormier color scheme. Logo is - again - a bit of a rough concept, but it's good enough for now. I'm mostly happy with the custom word marks and uniforms, which I think are here to stay. New Orleans Corsairs New Orleans gets an updated striping pattern throughout, something that's still very ornamental and whimsical but not quite as complex as the previous stripe. The gold color has also been made darker and richer to emulate the sheen of brass instruments, a staple of jazz music in New Orleans. That's all I've got for now. Still limited progress on San Francisco, haven't come up with any logo ideas that have gone anywhere. This semester is gonna be quite busy for me, as I'll resume classes and will likely start an internship throughout the school year, plus I have a few other personal projects planned in the next few months. I will still try and work on this league; it's one of my favorite things I've ever made and I always enjoy exploring new ideas with it, but it might end up taking a backseat for much of the semester. We'll see. Made in Affinity Designer. C&C appreciated.
  24. The Guardians have no case here. No one is going to look at that logo and think "Is this random business two states away that I've never heard of affiliated with the baseball team?" even if they did, you can't claim copyright infringement on a simple design element like a block C. It's too simple to claim intellectual ownership of. Hate it when big name brands dunk on tiny local businesses like this just for a quick buck.
