NHL Anti-Thread: Bad Business Decision Aggregator

The Canucks are already at a critical mass of cheap shots, bitching, and sanctimony. You couldn't add Shane Doan to that.

Unless the new CBA takes the 35+ rule away, Doan can retire and leave the team with his cap hit. Nice.

Second-best part is the NHL central office giving $21 million and a $2 million signing bonus to a poor man's Doug Weight, and the next day locking out the players' union because salaries are out of control.

Oh, I also like the Nashville Predators having to pay Shea Weber like an $18 million signing bonus because the Flyers double-dared them to. Best way to pay that is apparently to shut down your business. #oitgdnhl WE SHOULD GET THIS TRENDING ON THE TWITTER

Couldn't find the Coyotes thread anymore so I'm putting this here.

Glendale is giving Jamison yet another 30 days to complete the deal that was supposed to be finished months ago. He's reportedly still looking for couches to check for change to get to the paltry $170 mil price tag.

This is amazing. The Stars will be playing in bloody Yellowknife while Glendale's "just a month away from getting a deal together."

And at the same time, the man who will likely be the city's next mayor is trying to re-work the deals Glendale used to lure the White Sox and Dodgers' spring training camps to town because the city can't afford to keep up those payments.

Glendale and the NHL. They really do deserve each other.

Everyone's favorite Joyce Clark from the Arizona Republic:

Particularly concerning is her campaign literature’s allegations against a fellow council member.

“Councilwoman Norma Alvarez has endorsed and is solely supporting Latino candidates for mayor and council,” it states. “Is there a hidden agenda to get a Latino majority on Glendale City Council?”

The literature posted on Clark’s campaign website alleges a Latino majority on the council would benefit just one group within Glendale and would reject the arena deal with potential Phoenix Coyotes owner Greg Jamison. The current council is mostly White. Does this mean the City Council benefits “just one group within Glendale”?

When coupled with Clark’s statement at a recent Glendale City Council meeting, we can’t help but wonder if Clark, who we recommend for re-election in the Yucca District, is losing her cool during what has been incredibly tense and difficult times for city leaders.

Alvarez had questioned something Clark said during council discussions about the Tohono O’odham Nation’s proposed casino. Clark responded, “No. I’m sorry you can’t understand English or what I said.” The response drew gasps from the audience in attendance.

Well, now that she doubled down on racism, she's sure to be re-elected in Arizona!

Yeah, anywhere else you would be flat-out condemned for asking a Mexican--who obviously speaks perfect English--if she understands English. Here, it's just "uh oh, she's losing a little off her fastball lately!" I swear, Arizona is a dumping ground for people.

I miss subtitles. Tags aren't nearly as fun.

New arena might look cool. 360-degree open concourse is a good idea, and if the interior is wood-paneled, that cold be cool. Kind of a ski lodge feel.

They're digging the holes now, so now they just need a team.

What it doesn't show is the fact Clark also accused Alvarez of being un-american because she supports ending the lawsuit against the Tohono O'odham Tribe which is costing Glendale Millions. Yup this is my adopted home town.
