The_Admiral
oh godFACT: Councilwoman Alvarez asked that our Mayor and Councilman Lieberman meet with a start-up Latino management company to explore their offer for managing the city-owned arena.WHY? Could a Latino majority on City Council reject the Jamison Group lease management agreement and replace it with this start-up company with no real experience and at a higher cost with fewer guaranteed event nights?DEY TUK OUR SUBSIDIESDURKA DURRthis is the best thing ever 1 Quote ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
Kevin W.
LMAO. Talking about trying to avoid "higher costs" and the Coyotes in the same sentence. Gothamite
Now it makes sense - why Bettman is inexplicably driving full-speed to the work stoppage cliff, just when the NHL had recovered from the last disastrous lockout. RyanMcD29
On a different note... might as well completely wipe Kansas City off any possible NHL city list AND THAT MEANS YOU EVERYONE AT HFBOARDS AND YOUR "ZOMG COYOTES AND/OR ISLANDERS TO KC!?!?!" THREADS, as they've got a very small crowd tonight for college hockey, with a pretty good lineup no less Quote Twitter: @RyanMcD29
The_Admiral
I wiped Kansas City off the list when the mayor said they make more money without anchor tenants than they would with them, but then again I'm not an idiot. njmeadowlanders
http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/2012/10/16/3511126/nhl-expansion-toronto-quebec-lockout-2012The NHL could add two expansion teams in Toronto and Quebec City once a new collective bargaining agreement has been reached, according to a tweet from Jason Kay, Editor-in-Chief of The Hockey News. It has long been thought that the league was more likely to relocate financially struggling teams like the Phoenix Coyotes than bring in expansion teams, but that may not be the case any longer. It's probably not true, but the mere fact that I'm not totally just dismissing it as total BS off the bat says something about the NHL, doesn't it? crashcarson15
No way in hell the Maple Leafs let in another team. Why not Seattle since it appears the arena is going to be built?Does it really work in the current CBA to put in for an expansion team that may very well not come into existence (lack of arena) until the next CBA? LMU
I will never understand the obsession with Toronto, Part Deux. It's almost akin to MLB placing an expansion AL team in Boston. Good luck tapping into that spoken for fan base.
IceCap
I will never understand the obsession with Toronto, Part Deux. It's almost akin to MLB placing an expansion AL team in Boston. Good luck tapping into that spoken for fan base. It'll never work in terms of developing a solid fanbase for the team. The only success Toronto 2.0 would have would be related to how they could benefit the Leafs or their fans (the territorial fee, the competition, providing a means to see the Leafs play, etc...). The_Admiral
Hamilton would've worked in 1993 but not now. Toronto2 will never work, unless, like you said, it really does exist just to fatten up RogeBell on territorial penalties.
