FiddySicks 11,048 Posted October 31, 2019 I still kinda think this is just a lull for the Warriors. Knowing them, they'll end up with a high draft pick out of this whole mess who will slide in nicely next season when Klay and Curry are back at full strength and they'll continue to be at least very competitive, if not go back to being world beaters again.

I'm fully expecting their new starting five to eventually be Steph, Klay, Draymond, Giannis & their 2020 first round pick.

I mean...I think it's FAR too early to claim this yet. Let's wait until they are on the verge of elimination (regular season or playoffs) before claiming they can't repeat...but even if so, a noble sacrifice to slay that dragon.
FiddySicks 11,048 Posted October 31, 2019 The Raptors "Slayed the Warriors dragon" in about the same manner as Ronald Regan caused the collapse of the Soviet Union.
SFGiants58 13,681 Posted October 31, 2019 Is it still “slaying the dragon” if the dragon resembled Vader post-immolation? I don’t want to take anything away from the Raptors, but the Warriors very much imploded semi-independently of them.
FiddySicks 11,048 Posted October 31, 2019 That's what I'm saying. The Raptors were me when I was five years old, and the Warriors were that jar lid my dad had been tugging on for 15 minutes before handing me the jar and asking if I could possibly get it open. It was probably going to happen either way.

Eventually the Warriors will rise again as a Sith Cyborg killing machine and lay waste to the NBA once again.

I'm thinking it'll be more like this: ...they'll have to do gimp duty. Technically, Vader was Palpatine's gimp.
DG_ThenNowForever 15,387 Posted October 31, 2019 Who's going to take on D Lo's max salary? The Warriors won't want to take on long-term deals, but who wants to take on Russell for four years with a potential cap hit coming?

If you're making $700M/year in revenue, then you don't really worry about it. If you do a trade, why not Draymond? He will average $25M starting next season for the next four and he turns 30 after the All Star Break. You might even get more if you trade Draymond and sit Curry the whole season alongside Klay. Have Russell try to lead the team and be trade bait in the 2020-21 season. Edited October 31, 2019 by dfwabel Link added

I can think of a big ol group of schlubs in purple and silver about 100 miles east of San Francisco who probably would.
dfwabel 4,155 Posted October 31, 2019 KAT- 2 games Embiid- 2 games Simmons- Nothing but a UFC belt from Dana White for the tapout win over KAT. No games, no fine...yet
DG_ThenNowForever 15,387 Posted October 31, 2019 30 national games was too much for Zion anyway, but tonight's an example of that overexposure backfiring. The Nuggets are good, but they would have always blown out a young Pelicans team. Spurs/Clips is the better choice.

DG_ThenNowForever 15,387 Posted November 2, 2019 I missed the Lakers/Mavs game last night but am catching up on NBA TV. One of the biggest critiques of the Scott Brooks' tenure in OKC was he would bench Russ and KD at the same time, pretty much every game. What's nice about having Frank Vogel in charge of the Lakers is that he's a professional basketball coach and knows what the hell he's doing and, in contrast to Luke Walton, has rotations that make sense. And, most important, either AD or LeBron (or both) are on the court at all times for every important minute. What a thought, huh? The AD/LeBron pairing has been better than I expected. I predicted AD as MVP and I think he has a great shot. It's nice to see him in a major market because he was sadly invisible in New Orleans. EDIT: And we're only 5 games in, but Dwight is clearly the MIP this season.
dfwabel 4,155 Posted November 2, 2019 LeBron again failed to play with Scoops Callahan...again. Why, man? It's Scoops (aka Tom Gribble, a former Marine)! Even Aaron Rodgers and Phil Jackson play along. The best of "Scoops"

I always believed AD was overrated, that was probably just because I didn't get to see much of him as the Pels only play my Knicks twice a year. Now I finally get the hype, but I'm not sure about MVP.
DG_ThenNowForever 15,387 Posted November 2, 2019 Someone should tell NBA TV that their bottom line squishes the feed of the what they're simulcasting. They need to either crop the top or add bars to the sides, but they clearly DGAF. AD playing in LA will be a huge boost to his MVP odds.
