I didn't see this pop up anywhere on the forum, but the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) has a new team that played their first match this month in Boone, North Carolina, home to Appalachian State University. While the NPSL isn't the MLS by any nature, the branding that this team put out is eye-catching and pretty phenomenal, in my opinion.

Major props to Christopher Payne for this absolutely stellar work:

Absolutely fantastic crest. Tight and crisp, nice balance of heritage composition with contemporary execution. The “I Believe” launch campaign is the cherry on top. Love it when teams aren’t afraid to sprinkle a little fun in their brand.

I still don't have a website, but I have a dribbble now! http://dribbble.com/andyharry

For as frustrated as I’ve been with this team over the last year and change, I still have to admit that this warms my heart a little bit. This whole fiasco is a nod to one of the most enjoyable bits of my work life. I’m really glad they decided to finally embrace it a little bit.

It’s part of building their fanbase organically that I appreciate so much. You don’t have to always have a mascot/nickname that’s all serious or fierce. You get SO much more when you build your brand around these kind of silly moments. It was a little bit of a gaffe, but those kinds of things really connect with people. Like I said, I wish they hadn’t waited so long to embrace that kind of thing.

That is a gorgeous jersey.  I may have to get one of those.  The Green Bay ones are also both tempting.

Forward Madison FC comes through again.   This time it’s a reversible third shirt.

I love it.

This alternate jersey a unique design on each side. The "club" side features a series of hot pink flamingos over a sleek black background, while the second side or the "beach" side features hand-drawn art of the Madison skyline, along with multiple pink flamingos balancing on soccer balls and smaller navy flamingos.

Here's what Forward Madison Art Director Cassidy Sepnieski had to say on the jersey:

“We had two really solid designs that we wanted to use, so the natural conclusion was to put them together,” Sepnieski said. “With the hot pink, we wanted to bring our look and identity into more of a streetwear type of realm. The beach side was born out of vignettes of summertime in Madison.”

I so want that flamingo-and-ball to become an official alternate logo.

the shirt is great, but the socks and shorts need some hot pink.  Maybe a stripe or two.

(edit: the shorts do have hot pink details.

but I still think the socks need them too.)

I don’t think there’s a better-dressed club in all the nation.  And tonight… they wore them both

They do have this scarf in their online store:

Most of their scarves are based on kits, so it's possible we see a black kit with neon pink detail and the "city grid" featured. They've also said the GK kits will be unveiled this Saturday.

Flocking (halfway) called it.

I do wish they had gone full "neon" with the crest on the black side of the kit, but it's otherwise a triumph. Could've never predicted the reversible gimmick, and the detail on the pink side is kitschy and wonderful.

Though the team won't actually be taking to the pitch until next year, the USL League One expansion side based out of Windsor, Colorado's Future Legends Complex has unveiled its name and logo. The club will be known as Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC,  Hailstorm FC for short. The crest was designed by Christopher Payne.

Personally, I'm not a fan.

My local USL Championship club revealed their new logo today! Monterey Bay FC's crest is another design by Christopher Payne, who I actually had the pleasure of talking to in late May :)

I took part in the Monterey Bay FC listening sessions this past spring, and they definitely ended up taking a more abstract direction than I thought (I expected a more Monterey-centric design like my AC Monterey concept). As a former resident of Salinas, I LOVE how the idea combines the cultures of the Monterey Peninsula and the Salinas Valley. The crest definitely looked too abstract and marine at first, but the crest explainer video shows how many local elements were included in the design. The intro feels very Seattle Kraken, too!

Not a fan of the logo or the explanation that isn't needed.

Our not caring.

Logano wins BOWL before Chargers.

One Knoxville SC of the USL2 unveiled its logo today, as designed by Matt Wolff

Honestly, it looks more like the generic badges you would find through a simple Dribbble search than an actual soccer crest, but that's just me :/

I like the design, but it feels to me like something made for a regional apparel brand -- something artful with the city's nickname that will look good on t-shirts or trucker hats. I don't need it to have a soccer ball in it to read like a true club badge, but there's such a thing as being too general, and I think this suffers from it.

It's interesting to me that they use a cream and the lightest shade of blue for the examples of how it will look against different backgrounds. I think those would be unique colors to base their kits around.
