Probably so, but no school is going to give up the gate to travel a couple hours just so their opponent doesn’t have to travel as far. I know I wouldn’t. But, there’s actually one other school in our bracket that is making a trip about 15 miles longer but from north Louisiana down to the tip of the boot, just east of New Orleans.

To recap where the teams in my area have done so far...

 

Washington

 

3A: Kelso was given the #14 seed and were sent to play #3 O'Dea... yet again. Also yet again, the Hilanders would fall 52-13.

2B: Toledo opened their run on the other side of the mountains and took down Davenport 44-35 in the 1st Round over in Moses Lake. That win gave the Riverhawks a date with top seed Kalama. The Chinooks rolled over Toledo 40-15 in the quarterfinals, sending them to the semis and a date with #5 Onalaska. The Loggers and Chinooks met earlier this season with Kalama routing them 58-6.

1B: Naselle and Winlock both had games in the 1st Round. Winlock went to Walla Walla and won a wild 64-60 shootout against DeSales, giving the Cardinals their first state victory since 1999. The Cardinals would lose in the quarterfinals to Quilcene 51-28. The Comets from Naselle opened with a 48-6 romp over Waterville-Mansfield, then went over to Pomeroy and smacked them around to the tune of 72-42 in the quarterfinals. Next up for them is an old friend: Almira-Coulee-Hartline. The two schools have met in the semifinals in the last two 1B State Tournaments with each school winning a game.

 

Oregon: Rainier's home field was a total mess thanks to the weather out here, so they played their two games in Kelso. The Columbians won their 1st Round game over Nyssa 34-6 before getting stunned by 7th seeded Vale 14-6 on the same field.

apparently my school, Cane Bay, had a pretty good season; went 8-2 and won their first-round playoff matchup. only problem is that they played Dutch Fork in round 2. I don't know if you know this but Dutch Fork have won five straight SC state championships. and are probably about to win a sixth. so, uh, draw your own conclusions.

One handed interception to stop another Central Valley scoring attempt. But Central Valley would win the state title, 7-0 over Wyomissing.

 

 

 

This might be my best sequence of the year. Kennedy Catholic v. Iroquois (at Harbor Creek's stadium). Iroquois led 14-0, Kennedy Catholic scored two TDs, but with no reliable kicker, went for two, trailed 14-12.  QB Rayvion Wilbon-Venable ran for the two points. And came up short.

I recognized Steubenville right off the bat. New Philadelphia is one of our old rivals. They're 2 divisions above us now though so they don't play us in football anymore. Nice work!

It's funny you say that... because the game I was at was Steubenville hosting New Philadelphia.

Yup. I went looking through your picture files. Looks Phila got a new away jersey this year. The old Friday Night Ohio site was bought out and taken out this season so I didn't get much info on the schools this year.
