IDK...  it kinda veers into Cowboys territrory, and it kinda looks generic paint-by-numbers 90's football team. I'd rather them keep the Northwestern stripes on the helmets and pants like they have now, just to add a little character to these.

No. The Cowboys and their trash uniforms can change. The Lions look farrrrr better in blue and silver than Dallas ever has.

If only it was the 1980’s/early 1990’s uniform and helmet as opposed to today’s version.  The updated Lion logo can stay though.

They don't look like the Cowboys at all.

That was a great football uniform.

Slap the new logo on the helmet and call it done.

Even the blue pants can come back.

That looked really silly at the time, but things have gone so far since then that it almost looks good now.

It may be because I'm too young to have been around for this era, but this combo looks almost exactly like the Cowboys to me. The pants and helmet are way too similar in shade for me to see anything else.

I'd be in favor of the Lions using the older sleeve stripes and northwestern stripes on the pants and helmet, plus a more modern block font, but I don't think a full overhaul is necessary for the lions. The northwestern stripes work great, just change the home numbers to white with a silver outline, deitalicize them, and ditch the stripe wordmarks. That's all they really need.

Why are you trying to convince us the Cowboys do it better than the Lions did? The Cowboys' home and away uniforms aren't even, well, uniform. Plus, they enjoy wearing white at home, as if it's a better look than their navy (guess what, it's not).

Dallas has so much potential to embrace a classic navy/silver, instead evolved over the years into this insane visual disaster. If you have healthy eyesight, there's really no defending it.

A full overhaul wasn't necessary for the Lions 20 years ago. It was a Michael Bolton in "Office Space" situation - why should they change? The Cowboys uniforms are the ones who suck.

I actually kind of like their current uniforms (dumb all gray alternates excluded) because they actually try to express a statement, are evocative of car culture, and don't try to smash black into the uniform the way the previous two iterations did, but they're not better than those 90's uniforms. I'd gleefully welcome a return of them.

The thing about their old set that was great was the way they used white to sort of accentuate the other two colors and make them pop so much better. It was used as a boarder between the blue and grey and it worked tremendously well. The current set is basically devoid of those white boarders, and it leaves everything looking muddy, washed out, and drab. The blue they use is great but it’s also a bit more washed out. I think that’s why putting a darker color, such as black or dark grey, doesn’t look good.

The Lions' (lack of) use of white is awful.

If you're gonna go strictly blue/silver, do it. Take the white out of the logo and the WCF patch. It looks so out of place and just looks like a rookie-level oversight.

But the real solution, as said earlier, is to remove that stupid darker gray, and make the numbers white with a silver outline. That would do wonders for their home set.

The Lions would look just as good if they were just the Raiders in blue. It doesn’t take much for Detroit to have a decent respectable set.

Acting like the Cowboys shouldn’t change uniforms just because it’s the Cowboys is some next level buffoonery. Cowboys for Cowboys Sake. CFCS.

the top one is absolutely not dark green. There’s definitely blue in it, and I’m not even 100% sure it’s a different color than the current - it’s just super sensitive to differences in materials.

Nobody is saying the Cowboys do it better. There is definitley some glaring issues with the Cowboys current set.  But you cannot tell me that these two don't even look remotley similar to the casual fan.

The Cowboys (unfortunatley) will not change. The Lions (likely) will.  instaed of wishing for some Jerry Jones miracle, how about the Lions try to look good and not look like the Cowboys at the same time.

All Detriot has to do is take the Barry sanders set and use the Northwestern stripe on the pants and helmet. That way they look good and distinguishable.

That reminds me of something I've been meaning to post about the Eagles. One thing I liked about the late 90's redesign was the wings were shaped to flow out of the bumper on the front of the helmet, which looked way better to me than the previous version that just clunkily terminated in the front*

Now though the helmets have changed and it looks like the decal is shorter in the front than it used to be so now the abrupt cutoff in the front has returned.

Don't like it!

*In 1999 my peewee football team was the Eagles. Every kid in the league was given a plain white helmet with a grey facemask and then each team decorated them with an NFL team's decals. Imagine my disappointment as a young sports aesthete when our preseason practices ended and I finally got to see the decals and they weren't the new cool looking wings, they were the old wings in plain green. Our helmets looked like the Eagles of the early 70's . Also the coaches applied the wings on top of the bumpers instead of next to the bumpers and that always bothered  me as well.

The Lions were blue and silver looonnng before the Cowboys claimed those colors or even existed. Dallas can change.

But they won't. It's not a "I had these colors first" issue, it's a "what does this look like to the American public?" issue. In that specific arrangement, the American public will think it looks like the Cowboys, especially the younger audience.

Hydrox made cookies with creme filling way before Oreos did, but the brand that is more popular and that most people associate that with is Oreos

If Detriot only wore the blue pants on the road, I would have no problem.  But since Dallas will not change*, I would hope that the Lions try not to look similar.

*I'm not saying they should not change. I wish they would. I just know there's a higher chance of hitting the lotto than them ever changing.

**Also, if we are being technical, the Lions did have silver and blue, but they did not use a triple stripe with white in the middle until 1966, while the Cowboys had a white stripe in the middle in 1964.

Don't get me wrong, I love the classic Barry-era lions set, but I just don't think it's quite good enough to bring back. It falls into the category of classic but too boring for me, just like the orange crush-era Broncos set. I like the idea of the Lions leaning a bit more modern a lot better, especially if that means using Northwestern stripes. I slapped this concept together just now, it's essentially a color swap of one of my NAFA teams. It maintains a noticeable difference from the Cowboys and feels more simplified and classy compared to the current set, but still has enough of a modern flair. (Again, apologies to the mods if my concept ideas are unacceptable in this thread, I just like to showcase alternative ideas I have when they're relevant to the team discussed)

I'll never understand why everyone on these boards thinks that if any two teams look even remotely close to each other on a glace from the corner of your eye, the world will end.

Two teams can have similar colors, uniforms, whatever. Especially if they're not even rivals.

Each team should do what fits their brand the best. They shouldn't even put an ounce of thought into how similar it looks to another team.

It's not the end of the world, but you would like for teams to be at least a little bit distinguishable from one another.

I'd rather have this:
