NFL uniform matchups that only happened in preseason

I don't think the Bills made the Cowboys wear blue. Dallas was in white for both games, and Buffalo blue. The only time it was BUF in white and DAL in blue was a game in the early 1980s if I'm not mistaken.

This photo is from AP, kinda small but you definitely see red helmets/red socks on the white uniforms, so I think Gridiron Uniforms got that one right,

No because when the Irish came to Ireland and first came in contact with the leprechaun people, they didn't take their land away and force them to move west. Instead, the two groups learned to assimilate peacefully. However, certain tribes of the leprechaun refused to taint the pure blood and moved north into the forests of Ireland, only to be seen rarely, usually at the same time of a rainbows appearance and occasionally at the factories of Lucky Charms.

I tried to find photos for the two games in 1995. There aren't that many for the preseason games for BUF and DAL.

I saw this photo before. But I didn't remember the team and players on the field. Who was the home team for that game in Toronto?

When they meet in 2023, I want the Bills to wear their whites, whether the throwbacks or regular whites, so that the Cowboys wear their navy blue. Buffalo is one of the teams that I want to come off the list of teams who haven't made Dallas wear the blue jersey, that came in 1996, at their stadium yet.

Yeah a quick search didn't net much, but here's a photo from the first game (July 29th) confirming the double stars..

As for home designation, looking at some different sites, it seems to list Dallas as the home team for the Toronto game

Weird that Dallas and Buffalo played each other twice in the same pre-season.  I don't remember that happening.   Anyone know why some teams had a 5th pre-season game that year?

Way back when, the NFL had a lot of preseason games outside the US and teams that participated got an extra preseason game. This was also a time when a lot of NFL teams played in baseball stadiums and preseason games would be at neutral sites or nearby college venues.

Dolphins aqua (1997-2012 uniform) vs 49ers white (1996-2008 uniform)

All other times they played each other in their uniforms from the 1990s, it was the Dolphins in white tops and 49ers in red tops.

yes. YES. DROP SHADOWS. DROP SHADOWS. DROP SHADOWS.

Cowboys didn't wear their road uniform in the 1995 Preseason and instead wore the white Double Star jersey for the final time but with solid socks.

Oilers at the Alamodome is something that feels like it should have happened more than it did. I've batted around an alternate history where the league stands athwart the Nashville move, as they should have, and the Oilers end up playing some regular-season games there.

Didn't the Packers have some preseason games at Camp Randall when they were still splitting with Milwaukee?

EDIT: huh! look at that

I seem to recall in maybe 1998 that the Buccaneers played the Chiefs at the University of Oklahoma

As a Texans fan with living memory of the Oilers now living in San Antonio, I also wonder at would have happen if the old team, just moved down I-10. They would still be the Oilers for one.  Though I could see them having a black alt because of the Spurs or even switching to black in the turn of the millennium because that era was all about dark colors.

From looking on profootballreference I found on August 3, 1996 the Broncos played three 49ers with the 1996-2008 updated uniform against the classic orange crush Broncos and on August 17, 1995 the Patriots played the Eagles with the kelly green Randall Cunningham era uniform against the flying elvises uniform

While doing some research I found that the Broncos played the Tennessee Oilers in a pre season game on August 29, 1998 as that would be the only time the modern Broncos uniform faced the classic Oilers uniform

I just checked and the Broncos did not play the Oilers/Titans at all in the regular season between 1995 and 2004.  Just that one pre-season game in 1998.  That seems crazy to me.

That does seem odd, but keep in mind from 1999-2001 there were 31 NFL teams and 16 in the AFC.  In fact, here is how the 31 team schedule was made.  Looking at the intraconference part for the AFC it was all based on standings for those years.  Once 2002 came around and the Texans were added the new schedule matrix came out and that may have caused Denver and Tennessee to not cross paths until 2005.

That was the first time they did it - I want to say it was around 1985 or 1986 because Randy Wright was the QB. If you look closely you can see them wearing the Forrest Gregg era unis with the yellow middle stripe and green number circle on the pants. I think they did it yearly for awhile and then it fizzled out in the 90s when GB stopped playing in Milwaukee, and both teams actually got good after being pretty terrible during the 70s and 80s.
