4_tattoos
So these are the cities, states and regions on the PLL's radar (based on their fan vote page) I think I have a solid idea of where the 8 teams will end up being based in 2024. We'll see how it plays out though. Albany Atlanta Austin Baltimore Boston California Carolinas Charlotte Chicago Columbus Connecticut Dallas Denver Florida Great Lakes Kansas City Las Vegas Los Angeles Louisville Maryland Midwest Minneapolis Minnesota Nashville New England New York New York City Ohio Pacific Northwest Philadelphia Raleigh Rocky Mountains Salt Lake City San Diego San Francisco Seattle Texas Toronto Washington State Washington D.C. Sequoia are located in the Sierra Nevada north of Death Valley up toward Yosemite, Tahoe, etc. Redwoods are coastal mostly north of San Francisco to Oregon. Most would associate Redwoods with northern California. Sequoia are technically redwoods but most refer to them only as Sequoia. And they're more central or Eastern st best. 4_tattoos
The United Football League had a bay area based team in it's first season called the California Redwoods. If the PLL wanted to maintain the Redwoods name, the most logical location for them would be in Northern California. 2 Quote Hotter Than July > Thriller

Think Atlas was placed in Dallas on that website due to the bull branding. The week 1 PLL games were all fun to watch! Other Interesting that Baltimore and Maryland are listed separately. I assume "Maryland" would be used for a team in Annapolis . . . or maybe "Chesapeake" again. 2 Quote Most Liked Content of the Day -- February 15, 2017, August 21, 2017, August 22, 2017 ///// Proud Winner of the CCSLC Post of the Day Award -- April 8, 2008 Originator of the Upside Down Sarcasm Smilie -- November 1, 2005

The location name "Chesapeake" worked only because the nickname "Bayhawks" starts with "Bay", so the full name made "Chesapeake Bay". That wouldn't be true for any other nickname.

I think the most likely outcome would be having a regional team that represents/plays home games in Annapolis, Baltimore and DC while the league is at 8 teams. Whether or not Chesapeake would be the market name would be up in the air because like @Ferdinand Cesarano said Chesapeake worked largely due to the fact the team was already named the Bayhawks before they settled in Annapolis. Chesapeake Whipsnakes wouldn't have the same ring to it honestly. I don't think the city of Annapolis has enough national notoriety to end up being the market name of a team. You'd be surprised by the amount of people that assume Baltimore is the state's capital. 1 Quote Hotter Than July > Thriller

Funny, I always think of the bay whenever I hear Chesapeake, not the city in Virginia. Must be my Maryland bias showing. 1 1 Quote Most Liked Content of the Day -- February 15, 2017, August 21, 2017, August 22, 2017 ///// Proud Winner of the CCSLC Post of the Day Award -- April 8, 2008 Originator of the Upside Down Sarcasm Smilie -- November 1, 2005
4_tattoos
I could do without the Bayhawks name being revived honestly. I blindly supported it because I'm a homer when it comes to pro sports, but the name always seemed like a Seattle Seahawks ripoff. Especially when you add the colors to the mix. To be fair, I don't dislike that color combo. I'd be on board with the colors being reused with a new name.
