2024 NBA Offseason Thread

Is that dude really worth 6 first round picks? I know it’s the NBA, and if you aren’t picking in the first 5 spots it doesn’t matter, but it’s the Knicks. You just know atleast one of those years they will be a lottery pick.

Pick value inflation seems unsustainable at this rate, six firsts is insane. That said, Nets had them over a barrel here, I don't see why you wouldn't make that trade. Instant chemistry with the other 'Nova guys that already all know each other, good perimeter defense which is your best chance at challenging Boston. Title windows are fleeting now so I get why they're going Championship or Bust.

Knicks have back to back picks here at the end of the first. I feel like that’s gotta be the spot where Bronny lands.

EDIT: Aaaand that feeling was wrong. I dunno, Jazz then? He should probably slip to the second round (Just give him to the Lakers), but I still think some :censored:ery is gonna happen before then.

Mike Malone might take him to troll LA.

I just don’t really see anyone being all that interested after the first round. I would imagine the Lakers would do all they could to get teams to stand down at that point. First round is a different story, but beyond that, why would you? He shows some promise but already had a cardiac based health issue, showed flashes but nothing world breaking when he was playing, and it’s obvious to just about everyone that he’s nowhere near ready. Unless it’s a guarantee that you’re getting Lebron, it feels like a waste of a pick and more of a headache than it’s worth.

Oh, 100 percent. There was some intrigue about a two for one with LeBron and Bronny, but it seems pretty clear LeBron is staying in LA and teams really do want to select the best available players.

It's not beyond possibility that Bronny goes undrafted, or just falls to LA and that's it.

That said, this might be the first time ever the WNBA draft was more intriguing than the NBA.

I admittedly don't follow college basketball at all, but reading the draft order I had to get to 9 before I saw a name I recognized.

I didn't know most of the names either, which is why I'm relying more on the basketball analysts in this draft, and I was pleased to see them heaping praise on the Timberwolves for trading up to draft Rob Drilingham as a eventual Mike Conley replacement. Nice to see the team fighting to get even better.

Has there ever been a more pointless/meaningless NBA Draft?

I didn't even know it was going on last night, if that tells you anything.

I didn't know it was either. I knew it was soon. It just came up on me.

One-and-done, the Process mentality that anything other than the 1st overall means you might as well roll over and die, and the cracking of the code for how to create a basketball player means that there's just zero intrigue to any of this anymore. I don't know who any of these people are, I never had a chance to, and I have no reason to care that I don't. It's like the "engineer, another engineer, and a mathematician" bit from The Simpsons but with broccoli-hair kids who have been in basketball academies since they were 2. And sometimes they're French.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

And with Bronny to the Lakers, all draft intrigue is done.

That's cool. So now LeBron will have played alongside his son and his father.
