nitroseed
I decided this morning that I wanted to do a tribute concept to one of my favorite bands, Lynyrd Skynyrd, much in the same way that I did a tribute concept to Pantera about a year or so ago. Not only are they one of my fave bands, they're also from Jacksonville! Woot! This isn't one of my more original concepts, since I used the eagle on the cover of the "Skynyrd's Innyrds" album, seen below.I incorporated the confederate flag into the concept since it was a very prominent symbol at Skynyrd's concerts. Merging the two, I came up with this concept. Enjoy! C&C always welcome.Oh, and if this thread deteriorates into a discussion about the rebel flag and its symbolism, I will lock it. Mac the Knife
I won't go into rebel flag symbolism except to say this - no offense to the other design, but this, slightly modified, would make a better Raleigh Rebels logo than the one Evivid's posted here. Brian in Boston
Sweet combo of the album cover art and the flag symbolism! It makes for a perfect logo. I could have racked my brains for days and never thought to do something so simple, yet so effective. Nice work, nitro.

Waffles
It's a shame this would never get used, because it's so nicely rendered and incorporates the symbolism so well.

Broken Record
I know the guys from Skynyrd used to play some kind of organized softball (of course this was 10 years or more ago). If they are still playing, albeit probably very slowly, this would make a perfect logo for the team. You should send it to them!

vicfurth
I like it a lot. One thing I might change (WARNING: More nitpicky than anything you will ever see) is on the far right and left red, uh, parts I'd have two tails (again, don't know real term) instead of three to tie in with the "F" in the secondary logo.
