Yes, I suppose I do hear Hasegawa's name on occasion, too... but from anything I've read, it seems like nobody's got a prospect for us that they're willing to give up... for any of those guys.

Yes, I believe it has something to do with the way he was treated by the Yankees as a kid when his father played for them.

Theo Epstein has said the Red Sox already have a deal in the works that will be announced around the all-star game that will involve Jay Payton.

The Payton deal goes like this:

OF Jay Payton goes from Boston to Oakland.

RP Chad Bradford goes from Oakland to Boston.

It's expect to go down in the next few days, since Payton's been designated for assignment and you would think you'd want the deal done before the second half begins.

Pay attention on this one - Oakland almost never, never makes just one move at a time. Payton's a center fielder - Kotsay will be on his way out of the bay area.

On that note, here are the rumors I hear:

Mark Kotsay to the Yankees, Red Sox, Orioles, or Cubs.

Consider the Red Sox out of it, they have Johnny Damon for this season, and Kotsay would likely have to be added to the Payton-Bradford trade(that would need to also include youg Red Sox talent) for it to go, and I don't think Oakland will spring for that.

Frontrunner: Yankees

Joe Kennedy to the Athletics, Rangers, Dodgers, Nationals or Giants

I know the Rockies aren't going anywhere in the near future, but even so, they'd want killer prospects from the Dodgers and Giants as they'd be trading a legit 4 or 5 starter to a division rival. They'd want young talent from Oakland who is likely unwilling to give such talent up.

Frontrunner: Nationals

Bret Boone to the Cubs, Yankees, Red Sox, Twins or Padres

The Yankees no longer have any interest in a second basemen. The Red Sox have a log jam with seven infielders on the team already, and I doubt they want any part of Boone's contract. With Hariston and Walker on the team, the Cubs seem ready to sink or swim with that platoon.

Frontrunner: Padres/Twins, or Free Agency

Mike Stanton to the Cardinals, Braves, Marlins or Nationals

This won't be a trade, Stanton will simply be released by the Yankees after the 10-day period. He wants to go to the Cubs, but he seems NL_East or St. Louis bound. The Nats and Marlins bullpens are weak, but with the struggles of Danny Kolb, expect the Braves to be the likely home with Lee Mazzili attempting to 'fix" a veteran pitcher.

Frontrunner: Braves

Eddie Guardado to the Yankees, Nationals or Red Sox

Guardado has said he'll use his no-trade clause to block a trade to Boston. The Yankees have Mariano Rivera, and the Nationals have Chad Cordero. Both teams could use Guardado as a setup man like his days from the Twins, but Guardado's contract is based on incentives he can only get as a closer.

Frontrunner: Staying in Seattle.

Those are some of the fun ones. Here's a list of the deals that have SOME merit behind them(in other words, not being shot down by anyone yet).

COL's Preton Wilson to the Nationals, Rangers or Cubs

ATL's Dan Kolb to the Red Sox

CIN's Ken Griffey Jr. to the White Sox

NYM's Tom Glavine to the Yankees, Red Sox or Braves

PIT'S Matt Lawton to the Dodgers

And here's one that's had one paper backing up talks between the teams: The Yankees and Marlins allegedly discussed a deal that would send Gary Sheffield to Florida for AJ Burnett and Juan Encarncaion. The Red Sox and Orioles are the other two teams inquiring about Burnett. I still don't think the Yanks will trade Sheffield. Instead, I'd lvoe to see them trade 3B Eric Duncan and SS Felix Escalona - these are two great young ballplayers who are never gonna play for the Yankees - cause A-Rod and Jeter have those spots locked.

As much as I like Kapler, I personally think he was on the juice, and left for Japan to escape all the talk about it.

I think money had to do with that. They did sign him for 2M and an undisclosed signing bonus.

Marlins are listening to offers for AJ Burnett. Although he has some of the better stuff in the league he's still a thrower. Very ignorant and still believes no one can touch his fastball. He doesn't listen to any advise given by the coaches and is looking for a 4 year deal worth 40M.

Junior to the Yanks would be a huge mistake. I remember Johnson, A-rod, Tino, and Griffey all being on the same team. That was the 95 Seattle Mariners, they couldn't win the World Series then when 3 out of 4 were in their prime they aren't going to win the World Series now with 3 out of 4 being past their prime. The Yanks need to get younger not even older.

I think Kotsay would be good however Oaklands asking price is way too high (the want Duncan the Yankees top prospect).
