VitaminD
#1. Super Bowl XXIII (Jan 1989) 49ers 20, Bengals 16. The Tim Krumrie leg-snapping-like-a-twig game. Or, the Montana-to-Taylor last-second TD game.#2. 1993 NLCS Game 6. Phillies 6, Braves 3. Sat in the first row of the upper deck in left field. Cold as hell. Didn't care. What a party.#3. 2001 NBA Eastern Conference Semis Game 7. 76ers 88, Raptors 87. The game where Vince Carter graduated from UNC in the morning and flew up for the game that day.#4. 2002 NFC Divisional Playoff. Eagles 31, Bucs 9. A bunch of my friends went to the Flyers/Rangers game earlier that afternoon (Eric Lindros's first game in Philadelphia since joining the Rangers) and we scored some scalped seats 2 minutes before kickoff.#5-8. Every Duke @ UNC basketball game in Chapel Hill. We beat Duke 7 out of 8 times when I was in school there. Ah, good times...BONUS (NR). 1997 USTHF National Championship (Team Handball). I started in goal for UNC. Lost the game, played well, got a silver medal and it was at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando the same time as the NFL Quarterback Club Challenge, so we got to meet a lot of the QBs. "Start spreading the news... They're leavin' today... Won't get to be a part of it... In old New York..."In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.
winghaz
Like gosioux, the biggest for me was the 1992 Final Four at the Metrodome. That was so fun, I thought I died and went to heaven.Second-biggest was when I played in the 1985 All-Star game at the Metrodome. Yes, I played there ... before the game. For the pregame festivities, the All-Star game committee invited community bands from Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Iowa to get together as one big band and play tunes from the 1890s and early 1900s. I was playing my trumpet in the Bismarck, N.D., Elks Band, and our band was invited. And it was a blast. We were waiting in the stairway between the Twins dugout and clubhouse, which served the American League, and many players walked by us, but none talked to us. That is, until the late great Donnie Moore of the Angels came by and he asks us all, "Are you all nervous?" We said yes, and he said, "So am I." So it was with special sadness, back in 1989 I believe, when we learned that Donnie Moore committed suicide. What a shame. What a neat guy.
