Goodbye Peach Bowl

This is another unfortunate step in the coporiztion (is that a word?) of America.

By the way, I think Insight.com Bowl was the worst name ever. Although that name has the benefit of not having hyphens in it like Ckick-Fil-A.

c-o-r-p-o-r-a-t-i-z-a-t-i-o-n

It's been the Insight Bowl for several years now, but the people at Insight just can't shake the fact that they had .com tacked onto the bowl name when the whole internet boom was at its height, and everybody wanted to tack on .com to anything they were doing that was even remotely internet-related. Now the trend is to downplay that, but the masses have already etched the .com to the Insight Bowl, even if officially, it's been dropped.

Isn't that the one that used to be the Copper Bowl? That's the question I guess people will be asking a generation from now with the bowl game in Atlanta ... that Chick-Fil-A Bowl ... what'd it used to be called?

We don't have Chick-Fil-A up here. And if they don't go national, changing the name of the Peach Bowl for Chick-Fil-A get better press ain't gonna help.

Chick-Fil-A is pretty national...there's like 50 of them here in Denver.

Well imagine how it is in Atlanta... There's one in like every other block.

ive never even seen a Chick-Fil-A, but then again, im guessing that youve never seen an In and Out

Gotta love those regional chains

The furthest North I've seen a Chik-Fil-A is in the Philly area....went to one for the first time in AGES this summer when I was in Fort Wayne.

Personally, I think Ranch1 (and hopefully the NYC folks amongst us here will have my back on this) rules it, but that's just me

A for the record I do believe that a couple have been played on Sunday's prior to Chick-Fil-A's association with them.

And about the game itself,my two faves were in 1991 when Jeff Blake led East Carolina on a huge comeback...and in 1995 when Georgia fill-in QB Hines Ward threw for over 400 yards and brough GA to the brink of winning....until a kick-off with about a minute remaining was returned for a TD by Virginia's Tiki Barber.

Damded sponsers - leave the names alone. The "PEACH" bowl is a classic name.

I wish they'd rename the Houston Bowl back to the "Blue Bonnet" Bowl from the days of ole. Most of you wouldn't remember some of the old bowl games, as I was living in Texas we had the Sun Bowl (El Paso) and Blue Bonnet Bowl (Houston) were a step down from the Cotton Bowl (Dallas) but still great games.

If Chicken gets a bowl, then how about a new bowl game in Kansas, Oklahoma or Texas called the "Steak Bowl" sponsered by the "Beef Council" - Beef, it's what's for dinner. :D

"Waiter, just bring me a COW, I'll carve off what I want to eat and ride the rest home, Yee-Haw."

Love In and Out. A Must anytime you hit the left coast. Also got a give a shout out to Dick's up in Seatown.

Apparently In and Out will make a hamburger as big as you want

another reason that shows college football is more about getting money than winning championships.

And to make things worse, once the Chick-Fil-A deal ends, ESPN will rename it the Atlanta Bowl.

Sorry to bring this back to the frontpage but I needed to get this off of my chest.

I'd like to see it go back to being the Peach Bowl someday, but anything is better than what it's going to be called next year.

My question is why would any corporation want to taint a Bowl's tradition by changing a great name like the Peach or Cirtus Bowl to something so corporate like the Chick-fill-A or Capital One Bowl, that it pisses fans off?? Do they not have any repect for tradition??
