PackerBadger
Why yes. In fact (WARNING: Political content ahead), we have no U.S. senators. The Timber Rattlers are not the only Wisconsin MWL team, so some might consider it a bit forward to appropriate the state name. Their predecessor team, the Appleton Foxes, once was known as the Fox Cities Foxes.(Yes, I did not read the thread title before I wrote this.) Brian in Boston
Hampton Roads is the name of the city. Unless there's something I'm missing... Hampton Roads is the name of a body of water, as well as the region which surrounds it, in Southeastern Virginia. There is no city named Hampton Roads, Virginia. There is a city named Hampton, Virginia. The Hampton Roads Admirals - now the Norfolk Admirals - have long called The Scope in Norfolk, Virginia their home. hrivnak
Ah, I'm just so used to hearing the term Hampton Roads used, I didn't realize it wasn't a city... I thought it was the "St. Paul" to Norfolk's "Minneapolis" (lesser known twin city). I should have paid attention in my Virginia History classes in high school. winghaz
Dakota Wizards of the CBA has been mentioned. They're located in Bismarck, N.D.Having grown up in the Bismarck area and lived there for 22 years before moving to Fargo, I always hated the name Dakota for the Wizards because of two things: 1. Why not show some pride in the city of Bismarck and use that name? 2. There's another CBA team in the Dakotas, the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Also, there was a team called the Black Hills Posse in the International Basketball Association. It was located in Rapid City, S.D.
