Steel Certain Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 STEELERS 24, BRONCOS 17Today is a defining moment for Cowher, who has played in three AFC Championships since 1997 and has failed to advance to "the big show" (each time losing to the eventual Lombardi Trophy winner). Today he brings a team to the AFC Championship that is, in my opinion, much better than the former teams that made it. A Fast-Willie Parker & Bettis combo running the ball, a more-than-able Heath Miller providing a great pass option, Hines Ward and Randle El in the downfield AND a defense that proved it's strength against the Colts. Other thoughts/predictions???
Cujo Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 I really don't want to see Pittsburgh go to the Super Bowl, but I got a feeling they will make it back for the first time in ten years. Denver is very a solid team, but the Steelers underachived all season long and are proving they are much better than your average #6 seed.Pittsburgh 21, Denver 13.
jkrdevil Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 Denver will win the game. The have a good defense that can cause turnovers, a good running game, and a good passing game. They are a complete team and this game is in Denver where it will be loud and is a mile above sea level. Denver is 9-0 at home where the have a huge homefield advantage. Come the 4th quater Pittsburgh is going to have a hard time breathing. It will be a close game but Denver will win.

Despite the tightwad Rooneys, spittin' Bill has the Steelers in contention every year. Just like Peyton Manning is not a 'choker' because he's lost a handful of key games. Be careful what you wish for.having said that...Denver 20 Pittsburgh 17The 'run for the thumb' is on the horizon, just not this year.

jkrdevil Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 I would like to add this the winner of this game I think will win the Super Bowl. I think both of these teams are far better than the Seahawks and Panthers. If the Steelers were in the NFC they would be a 1 or 2 seed instead of a 6 seed. Also, if the Steelers do win I do not want to hear one for the thumb. 17 players on the Steelers roster was born after the Steelers last won a Super Bowl. That includes Ben Roethlisberger, Willie Parker, and Troy Polamalu.
Steel Certain Posted January 22, 2006 Author Posted January 22, 2006 The concensus seems to be for the Broncs...I don't think Cowher is on the Hotseat by any means (given his 26-6 record in the last two seasons alone)...but we'll see.And one parting shot...ONE FOR THE THUMB!!!!!!!!!
Dilbert Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 End of the line, everybody off!Broncos over Steelers Signature intentionally left blank
FiddySicks Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 Ive got a good feeling that Pittsburgh is gonna win this one. Theyre hot, Ben is better than Jake, Troy is on the Steelers, and theyre hungry after last year. Im feeling Pittsburgh today, 27-21And one more thing, why does CBS even bother asking Shannon Sharpe who he thinks is gonna win? The guy won two Super Bowls with Denver, hes as much a homer as most of the people in the stands. I see what you're saying BUT, I think most people talk about SB rings with regard to the team in general, not the players from a specific year. The Steelers have four titles and a fifth would be the 'thumb' ring for Pittsburgh as a whole. I'm a Cowboys fan and trust me everything I get from them in the mail features five Lombardi trophies, five SB rings etc.
robbman21 Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 So is this going to turn into the official game thread...or will someone start a new one for the game itself...or will this get merged into an official game thread?Either way Cedric Wilson just made a heck of a catch and the Steelers are up 10-0.EDIT:Post number 1,400....woohoo!

O HELL No. I already don't like the Steelers, if the Carolina Panthers make it to the Super Bowl, I will boycott it. Β Β
officeglenn Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 24-3, Steelers. Ouch. I was saying to myself at halftime, if Pittsburgh blows this lead, then we know Cowher truly is snakebitten in the AFC title game.Hope I didn't just jinx ?em.
