Future MLS Expansion

Now that Real Salt Lake, Chivas U.S.A. and Houston 1836 have opened for business in MLS, I just thought of some other ideas for future expansion teams.

Club Atlanta

Portland Forest (Nottingham Forest)

Arizona Hotspur (Tottenham Hotspur)

Central Park Rangers (Queens Park Rangers)

Orlando Cosmos

Dynamo Detroit (Dynamo Moscow)

Ajax Oakland

Philadelphia Rovers

Portland Forest, reminds me of the old Arena team, the Portland Forest Dragons

4 out of the 5 goals the US scores against Norway last weekend are by guys who went to HS in St. Louis MO.

And KC has the MLS team?

Two words-Lamar Hunt.

What?

Either there was some sarcasm i failed to see there, or you just completely missed the entire point of this thread, which isnt terribly suprising.

The Central Park Rangers would be MLS's 2nd NYC team :P.

I've often wondered that myself, but I think you have provided the definitive answer. That being said, the two cities are far enough apart that St. Louis should be able to support its own team (and maybe develop real rivalries with the Fire and Wizards -- since I doubt St. Louis residents travel regularly to Chicago or KC for MLS matches).

Oh, I should've known that. But New York doesn't really need a 2nd MLS team, do they?

Being from Portland, the Timbers Army would have nothing of "Portland Forest" - not that your concept is bad or anything, but in Portland the Timbers are an institution. Can't mess with that, my friend.

did you read the thread, my friend? its in concepts, and you griped about it. i thought id make some concepts and get the ball rolling. im well aware of the timbers, and again, youre not the end-all authority on oregon. this isnt a real team. dont get all pinched

Well, first of all I've been ignoring this thread because of its accusatory title. I think whoever started this was soccer bashing, or trying to be silly.

That said, Portland Timbers was the name of the NASL team much like San Jose Earthquakes. So, I could see MLS keeping the name Timbers for continuity sake, especially if its the same owners. The World Cup Qualifying games at PG&E Park were awesome, also the womens world cup was there. I loved the venue with the huge wall at one end, I thought it looked tight. It reminded me of a few EUROPEAN venues that have since gone out of existense.
