No sponsor?

From what I've heard, AC are dropping Opel as sponsors and have signed a deal with betandwin.com.

Logo won't look good on the shirt but when you got millions of Euros to roll around naked in, who really cares what's on your shirt

wow, couple points drug up throughout the thread:

-Chelsea used gold striping and such for some commemorative reason this year (don't ask, I don't care about them) so I'm not surprised they go back to the (IMO better looking) simple blue and white.

-I hate that Real Madrid get to suck FIFA's unit and get some sort of extra-special "we're the bestest team ever" logo on their shirt EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVEN'T WON ANYTHING IN NEARLY FIVE YEARS. *fumes*

-rugby shirts without collars = sacrilige, soccer shirts without collars = fine by me. it's FAR more traditional for rugby and IIRC wasn't a trend started in soccer until the '60s. some traditionalists don't like 'em either.

-either last season or the year before Fulham started wearing their following year's away as a promotional deal in their last home game, I think Man City did the same thing. And yes, Man U (and even AC Milan too IIRC) switch between black and white shorts and socks (and combinations thereof) depending on who they're playing and it does not surprise me one bit that Ajax would have the contrasting red shorts and socks to do the same thing. Again, depending on who they're playing they'd have to switch just sock and short color. you can even do that with the two uniforms in Winning Eleven 9, which opens up possibilities for created teams ^_^

It's Chelsea's Centenary.

Really? Which "traditionalists"?

Collars on football shirts date back a lot farther than the 1960s. Try the 1930s. Before then, most football teams wore shirts that laced up, like hockey sweaters.

I can't speak for worldwide football, but many English teams moved away from collars in the 1950s and 60s.

"traditionalists" comment, like many things, is something I remember hearing along the way but don't have the foggiest clue as to the attribution :P soccer shirts without collars are still fine by me, but even the short stand-up style collars that Nike and some of Adidas' rugby shirts have annoy the HELL out of me.

Rugby League teams on the other hand haven't always worn collars. They have often had V-necks instead. I still don't mind V necks but I loathe the t-shirt necks that are making their way into rugby league and union now. Makes them look like glorified soccer jerseys.

Rugby union jerseys will have traditional collars when I rule the world, and they'll all be strictly traditional striping designs etc. Nothing worse than jerseys with side panels and flashing and other random colour splotches on them.

Ah, it's all clear now. You made it up. :P

Speaking of collars, Nike appears to be introducing some sort of small cadet collar on their new Arsenal and Brazil shirts. I like it.

Hey jr79, what's the difference between Rugby League and Rugby Union again? I forget.

I hate it when teams have casinos as their sponsor. For some reason, those teams have no sponsor in FIFA. Other than Barca, it looks weird.

Me too, but when Leeds is involved, we'll take any cash we can get.

After the Whites win the playoffs, cash won't be as big a worry...

rugby league is for sissies? :P no rucks, not quite as much impact on the scrums, a bit faster of a game too. popular in Australia but not so much in Europe.

Hopefully, they will NOT include red in the logo, as it is sacrilege to have red in Elland Road.

Is that a "Wars of the Roses" Yorkshire-vs.-Lancashire thing or is there a more recent reason behind it?

Just an intense hatred of the ManYoo Scum. Cross-pennines.
