Queen should have been in the top 10 easy. I'm surprised bands like Led Zeppelin, Guns 'N Roses, or Social Distortion didn't make the cut. I've never even heard of bands like the "Scisor Sisters", "Bauhaus", or the "Wu-Tang Clang"

I dunno, maybe I'm just young. :P

where are the likes of the eagles, zeppelin, chili peppers, the doors, nirvana, oasis, bjork, aphex twin, jamiroquai etc etc.

not saying any of the above are awesome logos, but they are far superior to wu tang clans :censored:ty thing.

far from definitive.

Yeah, I'm serious.

I also agree with wilson that Zeppelin's angel logo should have been on there. Davidson as well, Chicago definately needs to be on there.

Ok, this list is a complete joke.

Any band logo list that doesn't include this:

Isn't worth a velvet painting of a whale and a dolphin gettin it on.

Don't confuse bands you like with having good graphic design. The Sublime logo is a mess -- just a bunch of burnout iconography slapped together in the shape of a face. Awesome.

And while I don't think it's the greatest band logo ever, I've always been fond of the dog:

So, does this make you like, 10? Scissor Sisters is a recent band (Had an album released in 2006), Wu Tang is, well, Wu Tang. Quite possibly the greatest rap group of all time, and actually released an album in 2007. Bauhaus... alright, that one's acceptable.

I happen to like this one:

That doesn't make it one of the top 25, but, it's one of my favs.

I'm 16.

Scissor Sisters: I don't care much for new music.

Wu-Tang: I highly dislike rap and never listen to it.

Bauhaus: You say it's acceptable, so no need for an excuse here.

I listen to mostly old(er) stuff, classics like, Queen, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Metallica. Some 90's stuff too, cause, that's the decade I was born in and I remember my parents listening to some of this stuff, Social Distortion, Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, even some Matchbox 20 and The Goo Goo Dolls.

The logo I liked best out of that list to me? (without taking into account that "The band is Legendary!")

Scissor Sisters. Love it. I'd buy a shirt just because of that logo, never heard their music before however.

I was with them through 25-15 or so. Most of those I felt were icon enough and were in about the right place. They lost me for the most part after that.

The problem with making a list about band logos is its almost impossible to not let your feelings about the bands music or icon status come into play. I'm betting there are hundreds of no-name bands out there that have better logos than any of these bands. But because of something that is totally unrelated to the band logo, the bands got popular.

The other thing is a logo has near zero responsibility for the success or failure of a band. Cool shirts can make bands money and I'm sure is a huge revenue stream for many bands. But the pop culture status of a band has almost nothing to do with their logo. The "coolness" of the band in turn makes their logo "cool", never the other way around. The sublime logo is a perfect example. It sucks. Its poorly drawn, has way too much going on. But once sublime was a cool band, the logo became cool. The success of the Scissor Sisters will not improve because of their (IMO) kickass logo. But in almost any other aspect of logo design, the other can and frequently does happen.
