FiddySicks
The Braves had an odd scheduling quirk this weekend vs. the Angels.Game 1 start time- 10:05pm- FridayGame 2 start time- 9:05pm- SaturdayGame 3 start time- 8:05pm- SundayKinda odd.Im guessing all PST, right? Those are Eastern times.Ahh, yeah. Thats what I meant. My mistake, they start a lot later because they're all western night games. HedleyLamarr
Up next for Chicago, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays ..... a possible World Series preview?! If that's the World Series then the Cubs are gonna have home field advantage for every single game. It still befuddles me as to why people don't wanna go see them play.I'll copy-and-paste what I mentioned in that now-graveyarded thread about the Rays' attendance. In addition to what someone mentioned earlier, the ballpark is nowhere near Tampa like the football and hockey buildings are. It's at least a 20-30 minute ride from Tampa to St. Pete and the ballpark on the weekend...I can't imagine how long the drive is for the weeknight games. They had a great walk-up crowd on the Saturday night game I went to (We were in line for about 20 minutes in a line that moved relatively quick), but on weeknights, I fully understand the small crowds. And it's Florida....there are plenty of things to do instead of going to a baseball game that's indoors. Now I don't know the population figures for Tampa and St. Petersburg, so my quoted theory could be bogus.... Brass
Mets acquire ex-Red Sox Trot Nixon. Also, Ken Griffey Jr. is considering waiving his no trade clause for a trade to Tampa Bay, per ESPN. HedleyLamarr
That would be huge for Tampa, their biggest need is one more left-handed bat. They could use a veteran starting pitcher as well, but those can be acquired later on.....
Shumway
Perhaps what Griffey needs is another ugly dome to play in.
See Red
The Yankees season might be unofficially officially over today with the injury to Wang today against the Astros. An MRI is needed to know the severity but the Yankees fear it might be a Lisfranc fracture, which could require season ending surgery. He's the man the Yankees can least afford to lose.To switch sports on ya real quick, a Lisfranc fracture is what ended Indianapolis Colts DE Dwight Freeney's season early.Doesn't look good for the Yankees. See Red
At least six weeks in a cast, and then probably another four weeks to build his arm strength back up... Yankees are screwed. Can we be done with Inter-League play? It was cute for a while but it's grown boring.

njmeadowlanders
The Mets are an f'ing disgrace. They'll NEVER win b/c they care more about public perception than they do winning....and the perception keeps getting worse and worse after this fiasco. Now, I wanted Willie fired as much as the next guy--moreso that the MAIN culprit (Minaya, the GM) would be exposed sooner rather than later. But they make WIllie fly out to LA and fire him (and the other 2 coaches) at 3:15 AM Eastern...what, they thought nobody would notice? What a sorry ass organization. I'm embarrased to be a Met fan for a change...

He just kind of gave this dumb vibe. I agree with basically everyone about the Willie firing, too. You can't fly a man 3000 miles from home, and then fire him at 11/12 o'clock at night. You just can't. Plus, the last couple of games weren't bad, so why not wait for a week or so and see how it goes? The team is certainly not getting any better in the hands of Manuel.
