2008 MLB Season

The Blue Jays were back to their normal selves last night. Tie up the game in the 8th, and lose in extras. Life is back to normal in the T Dot.

You forgot loading the bases with 0 out and not bringing in anyone to score :P

Yeah I missed that...had to deal with the massive fight outside gate 5 :cursing: I did see Rios get on base and have Wells, Stairs and Rolen fail to get him in, and off course Wolfe walk the first 2 batters on 8 pitches.

The Kansas City Royals should think about a move to the NL. 12-3 against the woeful NL this season. They've swept St. Louis and Colorado within the last ten days and have a rematch aginst the Cards starting tomorrow at Kauffman Stadium.

9-1 in their last 10 games, 11-4 in their last 15 games.

Finally some production.

When was this fight? The ONE game I'm not sitting by Gate 5 and I miss a fight.

The Royals and Twins both are built for the NL. We need interleague play more often!

Around the 7th inning. Bunch of guys got tossed, and they started mouthing off to the cops who were trying get them to leave the property. There was a scuffle between and couple of the drunk guys and some cops. About 5 arrested.

The Phils "accomplished" the same feat Wednesday night too. Still won, at least.

Then in the getaway matinee series finale, Rich Harden avoided the DL long enough to throw a no-hitter over 8*, sending the Fightins back to their limp-batted recent woes.

*does not apply to Shane Victorino. He managed the only two hits off Rich.

Dear Shawn Chacon:

Thank you for doing to Ed Wade what Phillies fans wanted to do to him for mismanaging the club for five seasons -- beat the everloving crap out of him. In return, feel free to stop by for a few million dozen free beers, compliments of us.

Yours truly,

A Philadelphia Sports Fan

Shawn Chacon's a very strange story. Was good as a rookie, then struggled and was nearly kicked off the Rockies the next year by Clint Hurdle. Then he won a job in Spring Training and made the All-Star team the next. The next year they put him in the bullpen where he had an ERA of 7+ and 9 losses as a closer. The next year he went back to the rotation and was actually not too bad, with an ERA around 4 in Coors Field. Got traded to the Yankees and was phenomenal for them for a year, though that was all smoke and mirrors and houdini-esque escapes... but he was terrible the next year for them and Pittsburgh. Then he was actually pretty good for the Pirates last year and not-so-good for the Astros this year.

I'm sure some team would be willing to give him a shot again but who knows what the hell you're getting from this guy? He's shown he can be a pretty good pitcher in this league but he's also shown he can be a very bad pitcher. I'm sure somebody might be willing to give him a try for cheap.

Twins... 3 straight sweeps! Thanks, National League!

As a fan of the suddenly slumping Cubs, let's hope you guys can make it 4 in a row with a weekend sweep of the Brew Crew.

Wow. That NL East is quite the struggle. After struggling very early in the season, the Tigers might be dangerous in the second-half of the season.

They can win that division because, well, it's not a very good division and they have a shot at the wildcard because the AL East teams are going to beat eachother up. They are playing better, but then again, every AL team is playing well right now save for Toronto and Cleveland. Good ole interleague play.

They really need to do away with interleague play, or have teams within a division play the same teams. The Yankees don't play a single NL team above .500 while the Red Sox got the Cardinals and two division leaders and the Rays got the Cubs, Cards, and Marlins. Hardly seems fair.

Big game tonight in Oakland, two of the best pitchers in the bigs tossing against each other. Tim Lincecum for the Giants, and Justin Duscherer for the A's. So far it's been an absolutely incredible game for both pitchers. Duscherer has only given up a run on only TWO hits!!! Lincecum was absolutely nails as well and even tied a season high 11 Ks. It's been an absolute dream seeing these two toss against each other tonight, 1-0 Giants going into the 9th. :jawdrop:

Problem is, the Giants still have to get through the 9th with their abysmal bullpen. If they blow it for Lincecum (which they have an awesome chance of doing), I'm definitely gonna be unhappy. And if it were against any other

team I'd probably blow a gaskett <_<

Thats one thing about sports, baseball especially. If a guy is having an absolutely stellar performance, even if it's against my team, and if their bullpen blows it I'm gonna be pissed. Sometimes it's hard not to get the feeling that a guy just simply deserves the win. I wish baseball had a stat that read better for pitchers who have good games who lose the game due to crappy bullpens.

EDIT: Well, the Giants bullpen held up and got Lincecum the win. Easily one of the most entertaining games I've seen in a long time. Just for some perspective on how good of a pitchers duel it was, the Giants won the game on TWO HITS!!!!

Woohoo! We got no-hit! :P

Seriously, this just proves what I've known all year long: that even when they win, the Dodgers just suck bad.

WOW. I have always wondered if that was even possible, but apparently it's happened before

I was sure it was possible, but stunning when it happens regardless. I looked at the espn.com homepage, and it says it's not an official no-hitter because the Angels did not pitch complete 9-inning game, or something to that extent.

I saw, I came, I left.

DEAD, you've got this right on the nose. Because the Dodgers did not bat in the ninth inning, the Halos cannot be credited with a no-hitter, because a no-hitter requires pitching nine innings. (I think Andy Hawkins and Matt Young both got burned from this in the early 90s.)

That said, it's the first time since 1964 that an NL team had no hits in a game they won.
